BlizzCon 2013: Ghostcrawler's infamous Systems Panel liveblog

I refuse to take responsibility for the title. Angry letters can be sent to Adam Holisky.

Unless people like it, then I'll take all the credit for running it. Such is the way of the world.

For all those of you who are new to BlizzCon, "systems" is a catch-all term for the raids, gameplay, quests, and UI likely to be covered at this panel, which begins at 2:30 pm EST/11:30 am PST.

BlizzCon 2011 Open Q&A Panel liveblog

Welcome back! The open Q&A will begin shortly and, as in years past, you never really know what to expect from this panel. However, I'm anticipating a lot of questions about Mist of Pandaria that the developers either can't or won't answer right now, and probably a lot of angry questions from people playing whatever is currently considered to be absurdly overpowered. Yeah, that sounds about right.

The liveblog is now over! Please click past the cut for the full piece.

The news is out -- we'll be playing Mists of Pandaria! Find out what's in store with an all-new talent system, peek over our shoulder at our Pandaren hands-on, and get ready to battle your companion pets against others. It's all here right at WoW Insider!

WoW Insider's BlizzCon 2011 coverage schedule: Day two

Welcome to day two of BlizzCon 2011! We'll have more of the same liveblogg-y and gallery goodness for you today, and Saturday's panels feature the ever-popular open Q&A sessions, where people who traveled thousands of miles to reach Anaheim use precious moments at the microphone to complain about their class. Oh, well. At any rate, we'll be liveblogging all four WoW-related panels again. Later, we'll also have galleries with pictures of the more important moments. If you don't have time to follow the liveblogs, don't worry! Any important news will get its own post.

Check back on the site for the four panels we'll be liveblogging for you below:
  • World of Warcraft Classes, Items, and Professions Q&A 4:00 p.m. EST / 1:00 p.m. PST
  • World of Warcraft Open Q&A 5:30 p.m. EST / 2:30 p.m. PST
  • World of Warcraft Lore and Story Q&A 7:15 p.m. EST / 4:15 p.m. PST
EDIT: Ack! Sorry, folks -- I made a mistake. The World of Warcraft Art panel will be covered with a gallery and article, but we're not liveblogging it. I promise you'll see all the pretty pictures, though.

BlizzCon 2010: World of Warcraft Open Q&A liveblog

Aaaaaand we're back with another liveblog! The open World of Warcraft Q&A session will start in about 20 minutes, so we'll see you back here for that. With any luck we'll have ... um ... I don't know how to put this politely. Less whining than the last panel. We'll settle on that.

Seriously, folks, don't fly all the way to BlizzCon just to be a jerk at a mic. You can be a jerk on the forums for free! I probably shouldn't be encouraging that.

Twitter WoW Developer Chat: Transcript

Starting at 6:00 p.m. EDT, 5:00 p.m. CDT, 3:00 p.m. PDT we'll be liveblogging the Twitter developer chat that's going on with WoW's Director of Production and Game Director.

We're seeing how this goes. We know a lot of you don't use Twitter, and that many places of business block Twitter. If this twitter-induced liveblog goes well for us, we'll do it again during future Twitter chats. If not, we won't! Enjoy it now either way.

Update: Chat over!

The transcript of the liveblog after the break. We'll do a review of this tomorrow, talking about our thoughts concerning the event overall. After you read the transcript you'll likely come to the same conclusion we did: Save for a couple items nothing new was really presented. There was a lot of fluff and very little substance.

Preparing for BlizzCon: The final roundup

BlizzCon approaches! Preparing for BlizzCon is your regular source for tips on how best to prepare for Blizzard's gaming extravaganza. These helpful hints are particularly suited for convention rookies. But if you are a con veteran, we'd love to hear your advice and wisdom in the comments as well.

BlizzCon is this week and we are excited! After a couple months of preparing, it's time to make sure all our murlocs are in a row. Are you prepared? Let's find out:
  • Do you have a place to stay? Of course, you should have reserved your room first thing, but if you didn't or if your plans have changed, there is still hope. People have canceled, so you may find some luck there. Also, big city is big. Even though you may not find a room next to the Anaheim Convention Center, there are still plenty of places to stay within an easy driving distance. Try your favorite online travel site for the best last minute deals.
  • Are you getting there by plane, train or automobile? Here are some last minute travel tips. If you are taking a train, you can carry a ton of luggage with you -- checked or carry-on. But I still recommend traveling light. Lugging big bags around is hard on the gaming hands.

BlizzCon Flashback: The Panels of BlizzCon 2008

Tickets are sold out for the day, and most of us are probably a little angry, but don't forget! There's another day of ticket sales on the 30th! If you haven't made your decision on whether you want to go or not yet, you're running out of time and it's probably a good time to look back on the BlizzCon that was. BlizzCon 2008 lacked any major World of Warcraft announcements, Blizzard's other franchises stole the spotlight last year, but that doesn't mean WoW wasn't there in spades. Let's take a moment to look back on that, shall we?
The Opening Ceremonies
BlizzCon 2008 kicked off with the opening ceremonies, hosted by Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime. Morhaime delivered many facts and figures about the World of Warcraft at the time (if WoW were a country, it would be the 75th largest in the world), and announced a new class for Diablo III: The Wizard.
