5 stupid-awesome uses for the Glyph of Disguise

5 stupidawesome uses for the Glyph of Disguise
Last year, we examined the curious possibilities of the remarkable Potion of Illusion, introduced in Cataclysm and hailed for its potential as a tool for amusement and mayhem. Potions of Illusion were my guild's go-to ingredient in what were otherwise boring waits for raiding to start, and my guild thoroughly enjoyed playing around and seeing what different kinds of effects we could mimic. Although the days of Cataclysm are over, the Potion of Illusion still has its uses. And in Mists of Pandaria, the possibilities have opened just a little wider due to the introduction of a glyph that works hand-in-hand with the Potion of Illusion.

In Mists, rogues were given the Glyph of Disguise. This minor glyph allows rogues to copy the appearance of an enemy, simply by pickpocketing it. Sadly, the Glyph does have its limits -- rogues can no longer pickpocket Durn the Hungerer, a source of endless hours of amusement in beta -- but that doesn't mean the glyph is devoid of all fun. In fact, there are plenty of cool mobs out there in the world, waiting to be mimicked.

First chapter of new Wolfheart novel free to read

Varian Wrynn
The Sept. 13 publication date of Wolfheart, the newest WoW novel written by Richard Knaak, draws ever closer. We know surprisingly little about it at the moment. We know that it will take place on Kalimdor but will focus on King Varian Wrynn and his relationship with the wolf spirit Goldrinn and the new members of the Alliance, the Worgen. If you're eager for more information though, you're in luck. Shelfari, a book wiki run by Amazon.com, has the first chapter of the book available to read.

Click here for your free sample chapter and choose the Read First Chapter Free button below the picture of the book cover on the left side of the page. You'll be able to read the first chapter, as well as the chapter titles for the book (by pushing the back arrow on the pages). There are going to be a lot of spoilers in both the chapter names and the chapter itself, of course, so read at your own risk. For a quick (spoiler-filled) summary and a discussion of the possibilities, check after the break.

Wrath bestiary reveals the Magnataur

The official Wrath of the Lich King website has had its Bestiary updated. What's the new addition? Magnataur! They seem to be centaur on steroids, essentially. An amalgam of a giant and a mammoth, these guys do not look (or sound) small whatsoever.

They're also described as fairly vicious, and their description lets us in on another fun blast from WoW past - the return of kobolds! You no take icicle? It sounds like the two races have a fairly symbiotic relationship, which should be an interesting dynamic to follow.

It's mentioned that single males control 'giant herds' which makes me a little curious about how big these guys can really be if they want to represent that in the game. The zones are supposed to be bigger in Wrath, but big enough to accurately represent massive herds of Magnataur? Maybe, maybe not! I guess that we'll see in time.

[ Thanks, Zakk! ]
