Maintenance Extended Until: 1pm PST

This really shouldn't come as too big of a surprise to anyone, but maintenance has been extended until 1pm PST/3pm CST/4pm EST. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if it gets extended again after this.

But worry not, WoW will be up!

Last Week in WoW: Patch 5.2 roundup edition

Happy Tuesday morning, everyone. Patch 5.2 is confirmed for today, and downtime's starting at 1 a.m Pacific time. With that in mind, we're digging back deeper than a week and bringing you all the biggest hits of our patch 5.2 coverage.

In our roundup below you'll find plenty of guides to new features, new class changes, new raids, and new loot. Whether you're waiting to patch, waiting for the servers to come back up, or just waiting to get home and play, you'll want to read up and jump on the servers with some extra knowledge under your belt.

Patch 5.2: Maintenance downtime

In anticipation of patch 5.2 tomorrow, the servers will be brought down for a full period of maintenance while the patch is deployed. For North America, maintenance begins at 1 AM PST, Tuesday, March 5th and should last 8 hours. For Europe, it starts at 1 AM CET. Keep in mind, there's always the possibility that maintenance may get extended due to unforeseen issues.

Start your client before you head out to start your day so that when you get home the patching process is already complete. In addition, don't forget to update your addons!

Last Week in WoW: The week of surprises edition

Happy Tuesday morning, everyone. This has been a week of intrigue and drama, oddly enough. Between senators, surprise console announcements by Chris Metzen, and the triumphant return of BlizzCon, it's almost more news that you'd know what to do with, right?

Luckily, we've been keeping on top of it all, and we've been continuing our patch 5.2 PTR coverage as well. As of this writing, there's still no announced downtime for this morning, but whether there is or not, you'll want to get caught up on all the crazy stuff that happened over the past 7 days. Read on for our usual roundup.

Blizzcon is back, baby. This year it will be on November 8 and 9 in Anaheim, CA.
PVP season 10 ends March 5.
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor claimed a WoW study was siphoning $1.2 million in federal grant money. It turns out, he was wrong. It only cost $5,000, none of which was from the US government.

Happy Tuesday Morning, everyone. We're still at least a week away from the patch dropping, but don't think that means there's a lull. We have plenty of news pouring from the test servers.

Maintenance is extra long today, slated to start at 1 a.m. PST and last for 12 hours. While you're waiting through the drought, why not read on? Our usual roundup of all the latest news awaits.

You won't lose your valor points after all in patch 5.2.
You will be able to cross-realm raid patch 5.0 raids in patch 5.2.
We have a guide to getting those cool new patch 5.2 mounts.
Patch 5.2 dailies will come in two alternate flavors: PvE or PvP.
There's some PvP healing changes coming to patch 5.2.
Those annoying gold bags in LFR raids will have a chance to contain new bonus items in patch 5.2.

Last Week in WoW: Patch 5.2 anticipation edition

Happy Tuesday morning, everyone. Certainly, lots of people are getting a little impatient for patch 5.2, and while the recent background downloader activity is a good sign, we still have a while to go. Bashiok's told us that Blizzard's aiming for the end of the month to release the patch, and there's always a chance of delays with Blizzard. A few more weeks of PTR is a good thing, though. There's still reports of some much needed LFR tuning, and the Isle of Thunder hasn't been completely unlocked for testing either.

In non-patch 5.2 news, this is a good season for in-game holidays. Love Is In the Air is around again, and we, of course, have a guide. As of this writing there's still no announced downtime, but whether you're waiting out some downtime or just making your morning rounds, why not keep reading for more informative articles and the latest patch news?

Last Week in WoW: Cinematic gnome edition

Happy Tuesday Morning. It's been an eventful past week. In addition to more stuff from the patch 5.2 PTR, we've had major twitter shenanigans from the dev team and we've welcomed some new (and returning) writers to the fold here at WoW Insider. In addition, the Lunar Festival is underway in game. Finally, Blizzard has revealed the new Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm Cinematic. Call me a sap, but I'm still rooting for a happy ending for Jimmy and Sarah. That said, this cinematic might be one of my favorites yet, if for no other reason than we finally got our gnome.

Maintenance today is scheduled to start at 5 a.m. PST and last for 6 hours. Luckily, while you wait out the downtime, there's a lot of hot news to catch up on. Read on for the usual roundup.

Last Week in WoW: Merry Happy edition

Happy Tuesday morning, everyone. With the holidays in full swing, one might have expected Blizzard to take it easy. Instead, they sprung a whole bunch of news on us. The Patch 5.2 PTR will be up in January, and they've already given us a preview of the patch notes. We've already seen hints of lots of new stuff, including

New pets and mounts.
New heirlooms.
A new raid with 13 raid bosses.
Rogue class buffs.
Tier 15 armor models.
Green gear that hearkens back to old Zul'Gurub models.

If patch 5.2 isn't your thing, have no fear and read on. We have plenty of year end retrospectives, live server news, and more for your reading pleasure. If the connection at Grandma's house isn't good enough to play WoW, why not catch up on some WoW news instead?

So it's the feast of Winter Veil again, and that cute little corgi is back. Blizzard, why can't I pick her up and take her home? It is horribly vexing to me. Forget the pony, I want a corgi. Can you just imagine her, frolicking through the fields, pouncing on rare pets and trotting back to lay them daintily at her master's feet?

As of this writing, there's still no announced downtime, but whether there is any or not, why not join me for a few minutes of fuming over the lack of a cute, fluffy, adorable corgi battle pet? Then to cool down from that, why not catch up on the week's news? The usual roundup follows below.

Maintenance downtime extended

Blizzard's Customer Support Team has announced via Twitter that maintenance downtime has been extended to 1 p.m. PST for both World of Warcraft and Diablo 3.

Happy Tuesday morning, everyone. This week continues the trend of last week. While there is no earth-shattering news, per se, there's a steady stream of cool stuff to read and discuss, from great patch 5.1 guides, to even more tidbits of intriguing patch 5.2 news. Could we be seeing a preview or a PTR soon? It seems possible, but it could just be wishful thinking, too.

In addition, the devs have been hitting the interview circuit, so there's a lot of great patch 5.1 stuff straight from the horse's mouth. Downtime today starts at 1 a.m. PST and is expected to last for 10 hours, so you will have plenty of time to catch up. Last Week in WoW This time for sure edition

Happy Tuesday morning, everyone! This time, we're certain. Patch 5.1 is releasing today. Hopefully by the time you read this, it'll be just waiting for you to download so you can hop on as soon as the servers come up.

As you might expect, patch day means maintenance starts at 3 a.m. and continues for at least 8 hours. Since you won't be playing WoW, that just means you have time to browse through our patch 5.1 articles. We have information on the new reputation rewards, the new gear upgrade system, the new reputation system, and tons of lore tidbits and spoilers, among other things. Read on for a round up of some of the hottest news from the week as well.

Blizzard is resetting all arena ratings over 2200 in order to combat a recent spate of cheating.

Last Week in WoW: Whither patch 5.1?

Happy Tuesday morning, everyone. With Patch 5.1 now a release candidate over on the PTR, the speculation on a release date runs rampant. There hasn't been an official date set as of this writing, but with an 8 hour downtime set for this morning starting at 3 a.m. PST, a patch could be possible. If nothing else, a new patch might be the perfect 8th anniversary present. Then again, Blizzard might want to take Thanksgiving easy and wait for next week. I'm guessing we'll need to wait for November 27 myself.

Whether there's a patch coming or not, you can't play WoW for a bit, so why not catch up on the latest news? We have a lot of great articles this week, including some that'll give you the perfect leg up on patch 5.1. Read on.
