WoW Moviewatch: Outbreak Lordaeron

Outbreak Lordaeron snagged second place in the BlizzCon 2011 machinima contest. You can see why the movie did well within the first few seconds. The voice acting and graphics are amazing; the action is well choreographed and fluid. Jeffrey Cuiper created the machinima, and the music was performed by Walid Feghali. Voice acting was provided by Jesse Cox, Matt Greenburg, Jesse O'Connor, and Rawrbug.

Daniel Whitcomb pointed out immediately that Outbreak Lordaeron is a parody of Left4Dead. I admit that I didn't recognize it. Even without understanding that video game reference, it's impossible not to get the obvious reference to traditional zombie horror. Four survivors must fight their way through the undead horde. The survivors' only hope is to use their wits, energy, and simple weapons to struggle toward freedom.

WoW Moviewatch: Too Cute to Kill

This movie by Irdeen Productions scored the third place prize in the BlizzCon 2011 machinima contest. Too Cute to Kill is an impassioned plea from Gnomes everywhere: Take the time to stop and kill the critters. If you don't, the result will be genetically engineered super-wolves that roam the forests hunting Gnomes.

This movie is chock-full of talent. Too Cute to Kill was inspired by Dark Legacy Comics. It was directed by Matt Greenburg. Irdeen fielded the producer role, handling the editing, special effects, and coordinating the sound design.

Too Cute to Kill is a fun movie, well worth the time it takes to watch. Kick back for a few minutes, put your feet up, and have a good time.

What you haven't had yet is the chance to meet its talented 17-year-old creator, Swedish machinimist X-Cross, a.k.a. Adrian Drott, or Tìnkle of EU Argent Dawn-A. We spoke with the young winner of Blizzard's World of Warcraft Movie Contest: Rise to Power to learn more about his creative process, his collaborators and where we might see him pop up in the future.

World of WarCrafts: Winner of Blizzard's Rise to Power contest -- and you've only just turned 17! How long have you been making machinima, Adrian?

X-Cross: I started with machinima in the early summer of 2008, and back then I was 15 years old. The first machinima I did was made together with my cousin and a friend of mine. It was a horrible WoW parody of Pokémon that for some reason a lot of people found quite entertaining and funny. After that, we decided to continue making the episodes but stopped after the third, since I wanted to go over to a bit more "serious" machinima making after all the great feedback.
