Patch 3.3.3 background downloader active with new data

As you know, today was maintenance day and the background downloader is downloading more data for patch 3.3.3. However, that doesn't mean the patch itself is today. In fact, I know it's not because I logged on to my home server of Norgannon without having any of the patch data downloaded yet, and checked to make sure Revenge wasn't improved yet. It's not. No patch today. Sad face.

This is standard procedure for the weeks leading up to a patch: as much of the data as can be loaded before it actually drops is sent out to reduce the strain of thousands upon thousands of people all trying to log on and download the whole patch in one go. While it does mean we're possibly close to seeing 3.3.3, with me personally willing to bet before the end of the month, that day is not today.

Patch 3.3.3 PTR raid-buff changes

The official Patch 3.3.3 patch notes have just been posted to the official site, and among those notes was news of an upcoming to change to raid buffs.
Several raid buffs have had their ranges increased to 100 yards, up from 45 yards, to prevent select buffs from repeatedly getting applied and removed during highly mobile encounters. Some buffs, such as paladin auras, totems, shouts and Blood Pact are intentionally meant to have shorter ranges and remain unchanged.
The concept does have me intrigued as to what exactly they have planned, but the question remains: with paladin auras, totems, shouts and Blood Pact being unchanged, which buffs exactly are being altered? To my knowledge, the vast majority of complaints about moving outside of the range of buffs mainly revolves around aura effects like totems and paladin auras.

At this time Blizzard has not posted a full list of the raid buffs that have had their range increased, but, as they said, the list is fresh and still incomplete. This also comes at a time where many class specific aura buffs (like Unleashed Rage, Abomination's Might, and Elemental Oath) are being changed to passive auras not requiring an outside trigger such as a critical strike or a spell cast to activate.

Be sure to watch for class-specific updates detailing further changes, and we will keep you up to date with information as more becomes available.

Logitech launches salvo of G-series gaming peripherals

If you thought that Logitech was onto something good when they launched the WoW-ready G13 gameboard, the bigwigs at Logitech tuned into your brainwaves and decided to expand their gaming line. Engadget reports that Logitech is set to launch a slew of gaming peripherals to complement the success of their gaming pad.

The first of these is the $199 G19 keyboard, which has a GamePanel LCD, a 320x420 color monitor that displays "valuable in-game information" for over sixty games including -- ahem -- World of Warcraft. Aside from macro-bound buttons, the keyboard also has a switch for disabling the Windows button, so players don't accidentally lock themselves out of their game when they nerd rage.

There's also the G35 (I don't really know where they pull the number suffixes from), a $129 headset with 7.1 Dolby surround-sound capability and a "voice-morphing" option that allows players to disguise their voice or -- as the Logitech press release states -- "sound like (their) World of Warcraft character". With three different, swappable headbands, the headset seems configurable in more ways than you can shake a Snufflenose Command Stick at.

Finally, there's the equally configurable G9x mouse, a $99 variant of the award-winning G9 mouse and should give the Steelseries World of Warcraft mouse a run for its money. Or your money, since that's almost a full hundred smackers for interchangeable snap-on grips, five ready-to-play profiles, and on-the-fly adjustable dpi. The keyboard and headset will be available by the end of the first quarter, and the mouse soon to follow.
