Where is patch 3.3.4?

For the past several weeks, people have constantly been asking where patch 3.3.4 is. Right now we're at patch 3.3.3, and Soon™ we'll be basking in the Ruby Sanctum with patch 3.3.5. We seem to have missed an entire numeral! Clearly this is a sign of the end times, shows how Ghostcrawler is really slapping us all in the face and how the "B team" is so special that they can't count to five without screwing things up.

Or ...

Blizzard just skips numbers all the time.

For instance:
  • Patch 2.2.0 lead directly into patch 2.2.2
  • Patch 2.3.0 lead directly into patch 2.3.2
  • Patch 3.0.3 lead directly into patch 3.0.5
  • Patch 3.0.5 lead directly into patch 3.0.8
  • Patch 3.2.0a lead directly into patch 3.2.2
  • Patch 3.3.0a lead directly into patch 3.3.2
So why was 3.3.4 skipped? Your guess is as good as mine, as long as your guess is that they've left 3.3.4 open in case they need to do an emergency client patch to fix some major error. Just like they have in the past.

The Queue: Q2

Welcome back to The Queue,'s daily Q&A column where the team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky will be your host today.

Gray decided he had to go and be a trekkie too. And that means that there is now an official Q-off in the Queue. Today's featured Q is Q2, played by actor Corbin Bernsen in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode Deja Q. He primary role that we saw him in was to remove the power of the Q from Q at the request of the Q Continuum.

Q2 isn't my favorite auxiliary Q character, that'd fall to my pre-teen crush Amanda Rogers. But for the sake of this week's Q-capade, Q2 will do nicely.

Majinon asked...

"Do you feel like blue posts are telling enough? Are they in a good place in terms of giving out information?"

Wintergrasp's hidden balance mechanics revealed, minor changes coming soon

Not long after Zarhym officially announced the Assault on the Ruby Sanctum, he also posted a thread announcing some changes incoming for Wintergrasp. Far more interesting than that, however, is the glimpse into the hidden mechanics behind Wintergrasp that caused the various anomalies that have left players scratching their heads since Wrath's launch, such as the opposing faction gaining the ability to build siege tanks after only one kill.

The changes are posted in full below, and keep this note from Zarhym in mind: "[...] although this information may feel very new to you, the actual changes being made in the patch to the current system are relatively minor."

Beyond the Lich: looking forward to future patches

Patch 3.0.2 is out today, and so goes the ways of old. Buffs have undergone the largest change since release, Protection Warriors can now AoE tank like a pro, Retribution Paladins are all screaming "Don't nerf me, bro!" and casters around the world are getting their heads around spellpower.

All this change begs the question, what's in store for the future? Could this be the last great patch we see? Is this the beginning of the end of the World of Warcraft? Highly unlikely, and we already know that there is a bit in store for us in a few 3.x.x patches.

Read on after the break for what we know is coming, as well as for what my predictions of the future hold.
