WoW Moviewatch: Bad Girls ft. Sindragosa

My choice musical genre is electronica, and as such, words can't describe my love for Mr. Voletron. Ever since I heard his first WoW remix, XT-002 - U R Bad Toys, I've been a big fan of his.

With that said, I was quite pleased when I came across this music video for Mr. Voletron's Bad Girls remix. It had been a while since I'd heard the song, and hearing it again really brought back some nice memories from raiding Icecrown Citadel. If you've been raiding since The Burning Crusade, it might even take you back further than that.

The video is by Khayllys, who you may already know for creating the machinima for Hunter, Night Elf ERP, and ZA. This particular video doesn't stray too far outside of Khaylly's usual visual style, using lots of soft edges, high color saturation, and blurred backgrounds. The editing matches the pace of the song really well, though, jumping around and creating an almost psychedelic effect that I really liked.

Now if someone would just make a music video for Madness Will Consume You (one of my favorite Mr. Voletron tracks), I'd be really happy. Anyone? Maybe Paus?

WoW Moviewatch: BSTV Episode 1

BSTV is Baron Soosdon's offering regarding his time in the Cataclysm beta. While there, he took copious amounts of footage from both the goblin and worgen starting areas and then coalesced it into this guided tour. With a little assistance from machinima friends like Legs, Cranius, Olibith, and Paus, Baroon Soosdon has created a fun, amusing romp through some of Cataclysm's best features.

WoW Moviewatch: Deathly Squares

Sometimes, you can't be quite sure whether it's the main boss of a new expansion that's frightening everyone, or maybe just the new expansion itself. While I'm not sure that was his intent, Bonkey certainly captured that dynamic with Deathly Squares. It's Bonkey's contest entry into the Cataclysm commercial contest, and it includes some help from Jesse O'Connor and Paus. Like all of the commercial contest videos, Deathly Squares is very brief. Check it out and let us know what you think.

WoW Moviewatch: Acting with Certainty

I'm not going to discuss today's movie at length. It's one of those pieces with such startling imagery and intensity that I think a review would detract from it. There is, be assured, a story behind its creation, but I'll let Paus decide whether he wants to share it in the comments. This is Acting with Certainty by Paus. The creator wanted to make sure to thank Dekret, who created a great deal of the artwork for the video.

WoW Moviewatch: Confusion

Not every idea or sketch turns into a masterful piece of art. While I'd argue that they still have value, it's just not the way of things that each moment of film is going to turn into brilliance like Citizen Kane or legends like Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter. Sometimes, these metaphorical scraps of film don't make it anywhere but the floor of the editing room. And, like I said, those scraps do have value; there's often neat or fun little bits in there.

Machinimator Paus has gathered these pieces together into an overall larger piece of work called Confusion. He's got a couple different things happening in this film, so see if you can't sort out what he's created. This work is influenced by Derren Brown's How to Control the Nation.

In case you recognize a bit or two of this piece, but don't recall from where, Paus is the master behind Idea. I still think of Idea as being one of the most original and dinstinctive machinima films I've seen this year, so it's always awesome to see something new from Paus.

WoW Moviewatch: If Shepiwot had a love child that made PvP videos ...

(Apparently Vimeo decided that this video wasn't artistic enough. They deleted it!)

It's a well known fact that I rarely feature gameplay and PvP videos on Moviewatch. However, as long as they're artistic, I don't have a problem with them. As a matter of fact, now that I'm playing WoW again (as Moowi on Mal'Ganis!), I actually enjoy seeing them. The thing is, the UI needs to be off, some shots need to be sweeping, and I look for an overall cinematic quality in general.

Paus, of Bathing with Ghosts fame, has created a beauty of a movie to show off the PvP skills of Ayanas, of Trollbane EU, in Waarom Fred zuigt in PvP. It makes me wonder what Shepiwot, of the How to Paladin series, would be capable of if he had a more complex editing program than Windows Movie Maker. As for actual display of skill, the poor guy keeps dying, but that's dwarfed by high definition (Boooooo, Vimeo!) spinning and jumping, plus an epic soundtrack!

If you have any suggestions, such as artistic PvP videos, for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com with a brief explanation of the action.

WoW Moviewatch: Bathing with ghosts

(Warning: This video contains some harsh language.)

If you thought you were having a bad day, you haven't met this guy. Apparently every time he takes a bath, he sees dead people! We applaud him for repeat attempts to bathe ...

Paus, from #machinima on Quakenet IRC, supposedly put secrets in each scene of this machinima. The story audio comes from the beginning of a Radiohead song, All I Need, from their In Rainbows album. How many hints can you find?
