Drama Mamas: More results from the letter writers

Drama Mamas Lisa Poisso and Robin Torres are experienced gamers and real-life mamas -- and just as we don't want our precious babies to be the ones kicking and wailing on the floor of the checkout lane next to the candy, neither do we want you to become known as That Guy on your realm.

We had three letters ready to go this week, but one of the letter writers has since requested not to be featured here, so we're respecting the request. This often happens, when someone writes a letter to us and then soon after asks that we not answer it. Sometimes it's because the situation resolved itself, and sometimes it's more due to not wanting to be identified.

We recommend letting your letter sit overnight before sending it -- and that goes for any emotionally charged email under any circumstances. What you want to get out in the heat of the moment is often not the same as what you really want to say the next day.

Regardless, here are more results. First, we have a happy ending for the situation where the GM wouldn't give up control of his guild.
Hi, im the concerned guild officer from the 'GM who wont give up control' article from june last year, i thought i would post a update on what happened.

So i linked your article to the officers and we had a talk with the GM explaining what he was doing and that the other 200 actual people in the guild didn't need it and he basically cut it out and went almost silent. He didn't give up the GM control, but he basically took care of the guild bank and recruiting whilst i took charge of organising raiding and another officer took charge of guild events and all in all things greatly improved. We got the good atmosphere back and he was happily away counting his inks and glyphs horde and didn't bother anyone or cause those awkward vent silences anymore.

Drama Mamas: The results edition

Drama Mamas Lisa Poisso and Robin Torres are experienced gamers and real-life mamas -- and just as we don't want our precious babies to be the ones kicking and wailing on the floor of the checkout lane next to the candy, neither do we want you to become known as That Guy on your realm.

Once upon a time, we published the results of some of our advice. Since then, a few of the letter writers from the last year have responded, so we again get to tell you what happened next. (Note: Some of the responses had to be edited for length.)

Let's get right to it, shall we?

Robby from when "just friends" intrude on love gives us more details on his situation and reports a mostly happy ending for him and his girlfriend. It also seems I (Robin) was completely incorrect in my assumptions -- but I'm OK with that.
Thank you very much for posting my letter in your column. I found both yours and Lisa's advice to be spot on considering what little bits of info I could fit into the letter. I feel that after reading all the comments thus far that I have a bit of explaining to do.

Drama Mamas: Letter-writers tell what happened next

Drama Mamas Lisa Poisso and Robin Torres are experienced gamers and real-life mamas -- and just as we don't want our precious babies to be the ones kicking and wailing on the floor of the checkout lane next to the candy, neither do we want you to become known as That Guy on your realm.

Now that's drama. That part when Onyxia lays the smack down? Squee!

Anyway, here it is: the long-delayed (by me), greatly anticipated (also by me) results edition of Drama Mamas. Woohoo! We took the responses we've received from those we've given advice to over the recent months and compiled them here, with links to the appropriate columns.

There are other results from our advice that we know of but don't have permission to discuss in public here. For example, sometimes letter-writers will post in the comments with explanations, but they've chosen not to identify themselves -- so we're not outing them here.

But that doesn't mean we're hurting for responses. Join us after the break for results from some of the most controversial letters we've posted.

Choose My Adventure: Meet Robinka

Choose the adventures of the WoW.com staff as we level our characters in <It came from the Blog> on Zangarmarsh (US-PvE-H).

It's a good thing you didn't choose a goblin for me. Goblins are crashing the beta right now, and both of my Roblins have been lost to The Great Goblin Wipe. /mourn

Poll results
  • Subtlety won for Patent, the troll rogue.
  • I'll be streaming Robinka, the dwarf shaman on Wednesday night. Thank you, Sharvis, for the name.
  • Robinemia will be taking up skinning and leatherworking, beta permitting, since you all so nicely chose to allow me whatever I want -- despite my passive-aggressive behavior. I think that was very sweet of you.
This week's schedule is after the break.

Choose My Adventure: Everybody wins!

Choose the adventures of the WoW.com staff as we level our characters in <It came from the Blog> on Zangarmarsh (US-PvE-H).

Note: The above is a video of Friday's stream and not an actual live stream.

Poll results

Robidin the tauren paladin is the winner of what beta character you want me to play next. Therefore, on Wednesday, I will be streaming in Mulgore. But streaming is fun! So Friday night, I played Robinia and Robiness a bit as well. The video is above.

Also, in a very close battle, you chose balance over feral for Prupher, Lisa Poisso's tauren druid.

Schedule
  • Adam Holisky as Adammentat, the level 57 tauren druid, will be on Monday at 10 p.m. EDT
  • Robin Torres as Robidin the level 1 tauren paladin: Wednesday, 11 p.m. EDT Note: This will be streamed.
  • Amy Schley as Patent, the level 24 troll rogue: Thursday, 10 p.m. EDT

  • Lisa Poisso as Prupher the level 10 tauren druid; Michael Sacco as Shockbroker, the goblin shaman; Christian Belt, as Selfloathius, the level 16 blood elf warlock; Elizabeth Harper as Faience, the level 24 troll shaman; Matthew Rossi as Andrenorton, the level 17 troll mage; Michael Gray as Grayfields, the level 17 tauren hunter; and Gregg Reece as Sandwichdoc, the level 16 troll shaman, will be making appearances as they can

Choose My Adventure: Quest like the wind!

Choose the adventures of the WoW.com staff as we level our characters in <It came from the Blog> on Zangarmarsh (US-PvE-H).

Roblinator may not work for the Venture Company, but this sure shows that the rest of the goblins aren't exactly environment-friendly. Putting rockets on chickens seems a bit irresponsible.

Poll results Schedule
  • Adam Holisky as Adammentat, the level 56 tauren druid, will be on Monday at 10 p.m. EDT
  • Anne Stickney as Annephora, the level 42 troll warrior, will be on Tuesday at 1 a.m. EDT (which is Monday at 11 p.m. Zangarmarsh time)
  • Robin Torres as Roblinator the goblin huntress: Wednesday, 11 p.m. EDT
  • Amy Schley as Patent, the level 24 troll rogue: Thursday, 10 p.m. EDT
  • Lisa Poisso as Prupher the proofreading druid: Thursday, 10 p.m. EDT
  • Fox Van Allen as Foxlight, the level 22 blood elf paladin: Friday, 8 p.m. EDT

Choose My Adventure: Predictable

Choose the adventures of the WoW.com staff as we level our characters in <It came from the Blog> on Zangarmarsh (US-PvE-H).

Bieber for Sandwichdoc was so predictable. Gregg has informed me that since Queen placed such a close second, he will play that for his next level. Lisiel will be a druid and focus on fishing achievements, and Patent will be getting the It's Happy Hour Somewhere achievement to celebrate Amy's taking of the bar exam.

Here's the schedule for this week:
  • Adam Holisky as Adammentat, the level 50 tauren druid, will be on Monday at 11 p.m. EDT
  • Anne Stickney as Annephora, the level 41 troll warrior, will be on Tuesday at 1 a.m. EDT (which is Monday at 11 p.m. Zangarmarsh time)
  • Robin Torres as Robinemia, the level 29 undead mage: Wednesday, 11 p.m. EDT tentatively
  • Amy Schley as Patent, the level 23 troll rogue: Thursday, 10 p.m. EDT
  • Lisa Poisso as Prupher the proofreading druid (Lisiel just didn't fit a tauren): Thursday, 10 p.m. EDT
  • Fox Van Allen as Foxlight, the level 22 blood elf paladin: Friday, 8 p.m. EDT
  • Michael Sacco as Sahko, the orc warlock; Christian Belt, as Selfloathius, the level 16 blood elf warlock; Elizabeth Harper as Faience, the level 24 troll shaman; Matthew Rossi as Andrenorton, the level 17 troll mage; Michael Gray as Grayfields, the level 17 tauren hunter; and Gregg Reece as Sandwichdoc, the level 15 troll shaman, will be making appearances as they can.
I'm just tentative for Wednesday because I'm moving this weekend. If I do play, I will stream it, and there will be more slaughter of those nasty Syndicate types.

I see that many of you want more PvP adventures. I'm taking suggestions for PvP events, games and/or activities in the comments.

Choose My Adventure: Maintenance and music

Choose the adventures of the WoW.com staff as we level our characters in <It came from the Blog> on Zangarmarsh (US-PvE-H).

Zangarmarsh is on the list of realms that are going to be down for a day, so that changes the schedule a bit this week:
  • Adam Holisky as Adammentat, the level 45 tauren druid, will be on Monday at 11 p.m. EDT
  • Anne Stickney as Annephora, the level 41 troll warrior, will be on Friday at 1 a.m. EDT (which is Thursday at 11 p.m. Zangarmarsh time)
  • Fox Van Allen as Foxlight, the level 22 blood elf paladin: Friday, 8 p.m. EDT
  • Michael Sacco as Sahko, the orc warlock; Christian Belt, as Selfloathius, the level 15 blood elf warlock; Elizabeth Harper as Faience, the level 24 troll shaman; Matthew Rossi as Andrenorton, the level 17 troll mage; Michael Gray as Grayfields, the level 17 tauren hunter; and Gregg Reece as Sandwichdoc, the level 13 troll shaman, will be making appearances as they can.
Robinemia won't be adventuring this week, but we will be having a Refugee Party on Shadow Council (US-RP-A) during the downtime.

We'll talk about the polls after the break.

Choose My Adventure: As per your request

Choose the adventures of the WoW.com staff as we level our characters in <It came from the Blog> on Zangarmarsh (US-PvE-H).

Here is this week's schedule, now with levels as per your request:
  • Adam Holisky as Adammentat, the level 40 tauren druid
  • Anne Stickney as Annephora, the level 41 troll warrior, will be on Tuesday at 1 a.m. EDT (which is Monday at 11 p.m. Zangarmarsh time)
  • Robin Torres as Robinemia, the level 28 undead mage: Wednesday, 11 p.m. EDT
  • Fox Van Allen as Foxlight, the level 21 blood elf paladin: Friday, 8 p.m. EDT
  • Michael Sacco as Sahko, the orc warlock; Christian Belt, as Selfloathius, the level 15 blood elf warlock; Elizabeth Harper as Faience, the level 24 troll shaman; Matthew Rossi as Andrenorton, the level 17 troll mage; Michael Gray as Grayfields, the level 17 tauren hunter; and Gregg Reece as Sandwichdoc, the level 11 troll shaman, will be making appearances as they can.
The levels are, of course, at this writing and do not necessarily reflect what you will see when you click on the link to the armory. You chose a Violet Raptor for Sandwichdoc and you want Liz to keep trying on her shaman rather than switching to her hunter.

I'll be streaming my session again on Wednesday. So if you can't join us in game, you can always watch live on justin.tv or check out the video later.

  • Anne Stickney as Annephora, the troll warrior, will be on Tuesday at 1 a.m. EDT (which is Monday at 11 p.m. Zangarmarsh time)

I told you to choose wisely, but no. You chose evilly. Well then. All of you who voted for Insane in the Membrane can log in and help me collect the bajillion things I need, and help me grind the mobs I need to kill. No, seriously. Make your DKs, level up your rogues and come help me. I'm not doing this alone. Oh, no. Oh, no.

OK. I was a bit wrong on Friday. I learned a lesson, but not the only lesson. Obviously. I put STV on the poll of questing areas for level 40+, even though you had already chosen that zone for level 30+. I was just trying to be thorough. Bad move. So we're going with the second choice of Badlands. You also chose the holiday festivities and a shaman for Gregg. Mr. Reece will be introducing Sandwichdoc to us shortly.

Don't forget: Tuesday night, we are having our Server Maintenance Party. Guaranteed fun, flame and death -- if you're into that kind of thing.

Choose My Adventure: Nekkid silliness

Choose the adventures of the WoW.com staff as we level our characters in <It came from the Blog> on Zangarmarsh (US-PVE-H).

What is with you people? I just don't get it. You nix the bunny ears and have voted for nothing but silliness since. Is it guilt? Are you having violent silly/srsbsns mood swings? Explain yourselves!

We'll give you what you want. We'll dance nekkid on a mailbox. But I don't see how we're ever going to get to Molten Core readiness by doing so. Don't you want to read about us doing 40-mans at level 60? At this rate, we won't even get to epic mount level before Cataclysm.

Anyway, here's this week's schedule:
  • Anne Stickney as Annephora, the troll warrior, will be on Tuesday at 1 a.m. EDT (which is Monday at 11 p.m. Zangarmarsh time)
  • Robin Torres as Robinemia, the undead mage: Wednesday, 11 p.m. EDT

So. White Kitten for Robinemia and Disgusting Oozeling (when he can get it) for Selfloathius. Cute and vile. Hmmm. You do know Robinemia is Forsaken, right? Anyone who enjoys chomping on humans and has no problem with poisoning dogs is not going to be above gnarfing on a small, fluffy animal. /shrug
