Looking for holiday gifts? WoW Mega Blocks on sale at Amazon

If you're on the hunt for holiday presents for your fellow WoW-players, you might want to consider the World of Warcraft-themed Mega Bloks sets -- they're fun to put together and make excellent additions to the toy layout on your desk or bookshelf. (Everyone keeps toys scattered on their desks, don't they?) To help you along, Amazon is currently offering a lot of sets at a big discount, bringing some of the pricier sets within easy financial reach. Sets on sale right now include: ...and plenty more. Many of these discounts are offered by third-party Amazon retailers, but most of the deals we looked at (and all the ones above) were shipped by Amazon, so we wouldn't expect you to have any trouble getting your hands on them. But like most of these Amazon sales we have no clue when prices might jump back up to retail -- so if you're interested in picking up some Mega Bloks for yourself or your friends, get shopping!

Blizzard's Black Friday sale extended to Jan. 1, 2014

We reported yesterday about the end being nigh upon us. Well, the end of Blizzard's Black Friday sale, that is. But in late-breaking new from Blizzard Customer Support's Twitter, and the sale blog itself, the sale has been extended!

So you can hold off, for now, on scaling back your purchases of hammers, tape, and adorable grandma tree ornaments. Spend those $4.99s on whatever you see fit for now, but do make sure, if you want a really cheap battle chest and a month of game time, that you get your purchase in before the new year. Think of the hammers you can buy between now and then. Or, might I suggest a pound of sour watermelon belts?

Mists of Pandaria discounted to $7.99 at Amazon

Tis the season for holiday sales! Though Blizzard's Winter Sale offers some great prices, right now Amazon is offering a slightly better bargain for dealhunters looking to pick up Mists of Pandaria for their holiday wishlist. The online megaretailer is offering Mists for $7.99 -- compared to Blizzard's current price of $9.99 -- and is matching Blizzard's $4.99 pricing for World of Warcraft proper, which includes all other expansions. These are boxed versions -- Blizzard's sales are for digital downloads -- so if you want a game box to wrap under the tree, this is an ideal option... but bear in mind that it means you will have to pay shipping costs, which could prevent this buy from being as much of a bargain as it appears.

Of course, Amazon's prices could change at any time, so if you were considering picking up Mists for the holidays, get it before these holiday prices are gone!

The deals are: That's a great deal for any of these games -- and a good way to take advantage of the new recruit-a-friend bonuses. Though the Winter Sale has only been announced in the EU, we'd be very surprised if Blizzard didn't announce a similar sale for North America, too -- stay tuned and we'll be updating this post to let you know exactly what deals are on offer. The sale is now live on both North American and European realms. Happy shopping!

Correction: GameStop's Black Friday deals

Earlier this month, we reported a rumor regarding GameStop's Black Friday deals, via a leaked Black Friday ad. As with all rumored information, this was not set in stone -- and now we've got the real deal: GameStop will not be selling 60 day game cards for $5 on Black Friday. We've verified this information with a source, and we're confident of the source's information. Those of you hoping to fill your pockets with cheap game time cards can save your money -- or you can cash in on GameStop's real Black Friday deals, which are still pretty good when it comes to WoW.

Mists of Pandaria will be on sale for $9.99, and it comes with a free 60-day game card. In addition, StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm and Wings of Liberty will be on sale for $19.99 each, and purchasing either of those will net you a 60 day game card. The World of Warcraft Battle Chest will be on sale for $4.99, but it does not include a game time card with the purchase.

For those looking to get started with WoW, this does come out to a pretty good deal -- you can get the Battle Chest and Mists of Pandaria for $15, and get a 60 day game time card free as part of the purchase. Or if you happen to have a friend interested in StarCraft, you can pick up the game for them, and keep the WoW game time for yourself. GameStop's Black Friday ad should be available on their website soon -- those looking for the official ad can visit their official Black Friday page and sign up to be notified once the ad itself goes live.

GameStop offering 60-day game cards for $5 on Black Friday

Black Friday (November 29th), the traditional beginning of the holiday shopping season, is always packed with sales to lure us away from our computers and into shopping centers. This year's deals at GameStop are particularly tempting for WoW-players -- or those that want to become WoW players. On offer are the World of Warcraft Battle Chest (which includes expansions up to Cataclysm) for $5, Mists of Pandaria for $10, and a 60-day game time card for $5. The former offers are a great deal for anyone looking to get friends into WoW, but the latter is a great deal for any active player -- even if you don't usually use game time cards, the appeal of getting $30 worth of gameplay for $5 is definitely high.

Bear in mind, however, that this information is coming from a leaked Black Friday ad on the site BlackFriday.com and could still change -- so you may want to wait for an official announcement from GameStop before you start camping out in front of your local shop.

Editors note: Gamestop will not be selling $5 game time cards on Black Friday. For the correct information, please visit our updated post.

BlizzCon Online Sale starts on October 11

BlizzCon Online Sale sneak peak
BlizzCon attendees and Virtual Ticket holders will be getting first dibs on the new WoW merchandise at this year's BlizzCon online sale beginning October 11 at 10 a.m. PDT. Supplies will be limited, and everyone else will have to wait until BlizzCon ends on November 9 for the chance to purchase.

One of my favorite pieces of merchandise from past BlizzCons was the 1:4 scale Arthas helm. It makes a fine desk ornament. Hopefully they will have more of them for sale this year.

To access the sale you will need to log in to the store with the Battle.net account associated with your ticket purchase. Head on over to the official BlizzCon site to see the full sale preview.

50% off Swift Windsteed for one week only

50% off Swift Windsteed for one week only
The Swift Windsteed, a.k.a. the floaty goat, one of the most bizarre mounts Blizzard has ever put on the battle.net pet store, is on sale for one week only at a fairly substantial 50% discount. This puts it at $12.50 in the US, and expect a similar discount to follow in the EU, although, interestingly, an EU sale hasn't yet been announced. It's usually the case that the EU announces a sale then the US follows suit, but perhaps the EU team are just biding their time on this one.

Do be sure, though, not to buy a US one for an EU account, or, indeed vice versa. The mounts are region-locked, and as such are not transatlantically transferrable.

So, if you've ever felt the urge to float through the skies on a half goat half dragon... or fish... that itself runs on a cloud, now's the time to part with your hard-earned cash, as the sale ends at 11:59 p.m. PDT on August 13. Will you be buying a Swift Windsteed?

Update: The EU now has the same sale.

World of Warcraft summer sale

World of Warcraft summer sale
The entire of World of Warcraft has gone on sale, and for once, the non-ironic use of the word "epic" is entirely justified. For this week only, you can get from naught to Mists of Pandaria for $30, or €30 or £25, depending on your local currency, and this is a pretty amazing deal when you consider the regular prices. As the EU store is still only handling digital goods, those will only be available in the EU as downloads. The US, however, can pick up the boxed versions for the same price, which is pretty remarkable.

Don't forget that the Battle Chest has included Wrath of the Lich King for some time, so you're not missing out there. This is a really, really cheap way to get yourself a character leveled with Recruit-a-Friend, and indeed to pick up an Obsidian Nightwing into the mix. Or, of course, get your friends involved in the game!

50% off character services in the EU this week

50% off character services this week
Several people have tweeted WoW Insider this morning to alert us to the fact that there is a fairly hefty discount on character services this week, and Blizzard has since confirmed it with a blog. A short look through the EU battle.net shop shows that server transfers, faction transfers, race changes, appearance changes and name changes are all 50% off. WoW Insider will keep this post updated with the sale's emergence in the US, which is fairly likely to occur later today.

Update: And that just happened, all character services are now 50% off in the US.

So if you're looking to try out a new home, a new race, a new look, a new name, or a new enemy, now's the time to get involved. It's really easy to do, just head over to battle.net, log in, and you'll be presented with your accounts, head through to the right one, select the service you require and you will see if your character is eligible. From personal, and very recent (darn it) experience, if you're looking to realm transfer you'll also need to empty your mailbox and make sure you're not in charge of any arena teams. Either that, or log in and out an awful lot!

What's more, it messes with your addons quite a bit, as the profile your character's using will reflect its new home. The same will happen with name changes, so ensure that you have addons with profiles wherever possible to avoid yourself a lot of reconfiguration. Enjoy your new perspective!

WoW goes on sale in the EU and the US

WoW goes on sale in the EU, US sure to follow
As of today, in preparation for patch 5.2, all of WoW has gone on sale! The world's gamers can pick up the entire game at a huge discount, as posted today.

Blizzard
The Thunder King's return looms on the horizon, and to prepare for the storm, Blizzard has just slashed prices on all World of Warcraft games by up to 70%! Now is the time to recruit your friends to begin their epic quest in Azeroth. But hurry-this deal ends February 25.

Price in pound sterling is £4 for Battle Chest, £6 for Cataclysm and £15 for Mists of Pandaria.

Do note that these prices are correct for the digital versions, as physical products are currently unavailable from the EU Blizzard Store. If it's physical versions you're after, and you're in the EU, then the US Blizzard Store with the associated delivery charges and potential for import duty is your only option. But exercise caution, and ensure that any game purchased can be played in your region.

The US sale offers the Battle Chest for $5, Cataclysm for $10, and Mists of Pandaria for $20. US players can get either the boxed version or the digital version for this price.

Mists of Pandaria is here! The level cap has been raised to 90, many players have returned to Azeroth, and pet battles are taking the world by storm. Keep an eye out for all of the latest news, and check out our comprehensive guide to Mists of Pandaria for everything you'll ever need to know.

Nab WoW and all expansions for $20 at GameStop and Best Buy

Nab WoW and all expansions for $20 at GameStop and Best Buy
It's nowhere near Christmas, but GameStop and Best Buy are doing their best to make it feel that way. Both are running a huge sale on World of Warcraft this week. The World of Warcraft Battlechest, which includes both the original game and The Burning Crusade expansion, is only $4.99. If you want to add Wrath of the Lich King, that's $4.99 as well. And if you want to pick up Cataclysm, it's only $9.99 more -- which brings the grand total for all expansions to a cheap $20.

Not only is this great for anyone looking to give the gift of WoW, it also comes in handy for those looking to get the Obsidian Nightwing through the Recruit-A-Friend program. You can either recruit your friends and get them the games, or you can grab the games and open up a second account for yourself. Either way, $20 is a steal.

Check out either GameStop or Best Buy for online ordering, or check with your local store to see if they're carrying the games in stock.

25 percent off character transfers this weekend

25% off Character Transfer this weekend!
Last weekend we had a discount on faction transfers, and this week Blizzard has confirmed that there will be a discount on realm transfers! Betting will shortly open on the nature of next weekend's sale. Realm transfers are offered all the time, of course, allowing you to pack your character's bags and shift them, their bank, their mounts, pets, and all their holdings to a new realm.

This discount decreases the price from $25, £15 or €20 to $18.75, £11.25 or €15. (American prices are subject to tax in certain areas.) The realm transfer sale ends on July 23 -- Monday -- so get your skates on! Do check out the Character Transfer FAQ if you're curious about any aspect of the service.

Importantly, you should note that a character transfer doesn't include a faction change, race change, class change, or appearance change. Also, a goblin doesn't really fire you out of a cannon.

New horizons await! Through this weekend and for a limited time only, you can initiate a Character Transfer to move one of your World of Warcraft characters to a new realm for 25% off the regular price.

To get started, simply click here. Alternatively, you can log in to your Battle.net account at www.battle.net, select your World of Warcraft account, and then click "Character Transfer" at the bottom of the page.

Don't delay -- this offer ends Monday, July 23.

So, if you have ever fancied a change of scenery -- well, OK, not scenery, but the people steering the avatars within it -- or if you fancy going from a PvP to a PvE realm or back again, now's the time! Carpe diem, people. Who knows when this will roll around again?
