Around Azeroth: Did somebody step on a duck?

"I admit, I'm still undecided on whether I like the new models or not ... especially after this," writes 'fish stuff up' quest for the Darkmoon Faire, and while I was admiring my new glowy wings, I noticed that my character had the oddest expression on her face. I mean, she's just fishing with a twig pole. So why the self-satisfied, Spock-eyebrow-raised smirk? Are our toons now thinking that they're putting one over on the hapless fish of Azeroth? Are they about to espouse on the illogic of fishing? Or is there something going on with those wings or that fishing pole that we don't know about yet?"

Around Azeroth: The end of the innocence

Submitter Shikí of Sojourner on Kargath (US-A) was on hand to document the final destruction of the Warlords of Draenor beta servers earlier this week. While she was on the server that was crashing constantly, she managed to snap a few good pictures. "Stormwind was very full of people on their shiniest mounts," she writes. "About thirty minutes before the snails arrived, the sky got strange and it started to rain. I thought it was a really pretty effect with the spiral of flying mounts amidst the stormy sky."

Around Azeroth: Bacon explosion!

"After the oppressive rule of Garrosh, Vol'jin is the proverbial breath of fresh air," writes submitter Heilandcoo of Deathtacular on Llane (US-H) "But ruling can be a thankless job. Vol'jin seemed so lonely, standing in the keep. Deathtacular decided we needed to welcome him. And what could be a better welcoming gift than bacon? A bunch of us brought Mr. Wiggles to the keep and hung around regaling Vol'jin of our guild exploits. 'And there was this one time when...' We're not sure if he was impressed by the stories or the expectation of bacon for life."

Around Azeroth: Let the dead bury the dead this time

"Something dark lurks deep within the Nethergarde Mines as the Iron Horde attempts to take its resources to fuel their invasion force," writes submitter Enishizen of Darkwind on Wyrmrest Accord (US-A). "While running my druid through the invasion quests, I decided to sneak into the mines and see what Blizzard had implemented. The Iron Horde was indeed in full force inside, working away, patrolling. However, once I got deeper into the mine I found something shocking. Ghosts of the Nethergarde miners shambling about, hostile and labeled 'Murdered Miner'. It seems that death has not stopped their will for revenge, as there are several dead Iron Horde lying about nearby, and in one part the Iron Horde have set a line of defense to hold back the ghastly spectres. Even more gruesome is that in one part of the mine there is a pile of bones that I assume are from the murdered miners, with their tortured spirits rising from the pile."

Around Azeroth: Parting gifts

"Winding down our time in Pandaria, I wanted to give something back, a sort of 'thanks for the memories, sorry we destroyed your world' offering," writes submitter Vaire of An She on Zul'jin (US-H). "All of my level 90s planted trees in hopes of restoring some of the ruin we're leaving behind. A grove ... of hope." And then the giant tentacle monster that keeps destroying all the crops in Halfhill ate everything.

Around Azeroth: Fright night

Since it's Halloween, I tried to come up with the scariest screenshot I could find. And then I stumbled across this gem from Mayliffe on Argent Dawn (EU-A), who combined Belbi's beer goggles with the Gnomish X-Ray Specs to create a world where everyone is a naked male gnome. AAAHHH! I'm terrified! But really, I hope you all have a spectacularly spooky night. As for me, I'll be working ... on Halloween ... on a Friday night ... when we're down three ambulances on the schedule. Now that's scary.

Around Azeroth: You see a sight that almost stops your heart

"One Panflute of Pandaria, plus one Scotty's Coin, plus one trip into the Forbidden Jungle to ... ah ... convince all those Feverbite Hatchlings to follow me equals one massive attack of the heebie-jeebies at Halfhill," writes submitter Arugadh of The Brotherhood of Iron on Wyrmrest Accord (US-A). "People fled in terror, and after being bribed with ale and gold to go away and never come back, I was one happy dwarf. Yes, my ministering to Azeroth's Tiny Critters has finally paid off!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!"

Around Azeroth: Cat versus water

"I decided to have a little fun when my orc death knight was abruptly transformed into a cute little black cat upon opening a Hallow's End pumpkin at Sri-La Village in Jade Forest with his Path of Frost still active, and gleefully took off across the sea," writes submitter Klawe of Maximum Pwnage on Earthen Ring (US-H). "However, he stopped short of actually making it to Windward Isle because I hear there's some even bigger cats prowling around there."

Around Azeroth: Try giving me a toothbrush this time, I dare you

"I felt kind of bad for this guy," writes submitter Tirrimas of Spectacular Death on Llane (US-A). "All he wanted was some Tricky Treats from the innkeeper, but he couldn't even get his hand in the door. When asked about the incident, the innkeeper didn't seem surprised. 'Third one today,' she said, sighing."

Around Azeroth: The price of greed

"Pssh," scoffs skeptical submitter Ghouldilocks of 憤怒使者, which she translates as Wrathbringer. "The 'Cursed' Cache. A likely story to keep would-be robbers at bay. Look at that treasure! A heap of gold just wanting to be loved, to be held ... it needs me. It's almost as if it wails to me in loneliness. Perhaps a bit too forward -- certainly a tad too loud for my tastes. But don't worry, darling. Tonight, you're min--"

Around Azeroth: Watch the throne

While everyone was distracted by fighting the Iron Horde, submitter Planck of Planet Express Crew on Shu'Halo (US-A) decided the time was right for a unilateral invasion of Stormwind. Of course, it didn't hurt that the 6.0.2 patch had temporarily removed all NPCs from Eastern Kingdoms on his server. Planck bravely fought his way through nothing to make it to Varian Wrynn's throne, where he donned some shades and chilled with the gold lions until the NPCs presumably respawned and instantly slaughtered him.

Around Azeroth: But I heard they were giving out full-size Snickers bars!

Submitter Diethelm of Tichondius had heard a rumor from his guildmates that Theramore was the place to be this Hallow's End. Possessed of a somewhat short memory for lore-related occurrences, Diethelm headed to Dustwallow Marsh to find only a ghost town ... that had still somehow been decorated in pumpkins, cauldrons, apple-bobbing tubs and a skeleton that is either decoration or a former inhabitant. Shouldn't they be rebuilding the city, rather than emphasizing holiday decor?

Around Azeroth: The short side of nothing

"When you take a lot of screenshots, as I do, you don't always get around to labeling them right away," writes submitter Gimmlette of Spectacular Death on Llane (US-A). "This is a case in point. I have no idea why I was taking a screenshot here. Krasarang Wilds. How nice. Turtle in the distance and boulders, lots and lots of rocks. Maybe it's part of my ongoing 'places I have died' series. When your deaths are over 9200, there are a lot of photos in that album." Since you can't remember, Gimmlette, I'm going to assume that you took this picture for a 'beaches it is uncomfortable to lie on' tourist brochure.

Around Azeroth, Beta Edition: I'll wipe that smirk off my face

Beta tester Croy of ELEMENTS on Sylvanas (EU-A) was messing around with the barbershop options for his draenei premade to try to prepare for the release of Warlords of Draenor. But his test premade was so busy mugging for the camera that Croy wasn't able to do a good facial comparison. Croy was so angry at his character, he auto-ran the draenei off a cliff the first chance he got.

Around Azeroth: Blast off!

After months of being summoned from his peaceful afterlife to sail his prized pirate ship, only to be sunk and killed again within minutes, Dread Captain Genest has finally snapped. This time, when the Dread Ship Vazuvius tilted and prepared to sink into the depths of the sea, Captain Genest activated the rocket boosters that he's spent months commissioning from a team of undead gnomish engineers and flew off into space. See you on Draenor, Captain! (Thanks to submitter Wsooishwooi for the screenshot!)
