The OverAchiever: Hail to the Chef

With so many players now sitting on high Cooking skill after Pilgrim's Bounty, I thought it might be cool to do Cooking's meta-achievement, Hail to the Chef. If you've leveled Cooking solely through the Pilgrim holiday, your character's probably sitting on around 350-ish Cooking, give or take, and completing the meta is well within your grasp with some hard work and perseverance.

Grand Master Cook

You'll need at least 350 Cooking Skill to train up the last rank, but as soon as you do, achievement -- simple as that.

The Cake Is Not A Lie

For better or for worse, getting the Delicious Chocolate Cake recipe is pure RNG (and until recently a buddy couldn't complete the meta purely because she hadn't gotten it to drop after more than a year). It's a random reward from any of the Outland or Northrend Cooking dailies, so you can increase the odds of getting the recipe by doing both every day and just hoping it eventually shows up.

Once you've learned it, you'll need the following:
  • 8 Simple Flour: Purchased from any Cooking vendor.
  • 4 Ice Cold Milk: Purchased from most innkeepers and lots of food vendors across classic Azeroth.
  • 4 Mild Spices: Purchased from any Cooking vendor.
  • 8 Small Egg: For Alliance, the most convenient place to farm these is off the moonkin in the caves east of Auberdine (Darkshore). For Horde, the most convenient place is off the dragonhawks in Eversong (outside Silvermoon).
  • 1 Flask of Port: Purchased from most bartenders or alcohol vendors -- hit the closest tavern.
  • 3 Mageroyal: Herbalists can get these on their own, but otherwise, just hit the auction house.
All set? Bake it up, and you've got your achievement.

Preparing for Wrath Day 7: Eat, drink, and be merry

If you're planning on entering Northrend at 68, or if you're going to bring a toon that's new to 70 and isn't sporting a lot of good gear yet, setting aside a few choice consumables may help ease the pain while you're leveling. Even if your character's well-geared, you can take advantage of the early-bird specials being offered by a number of vendors in Azeroth and Outland who are already selling Northrend-level food and drink like Pungent Seal Whey. Check in with your local innkeepers to see what they have stocked, sell off the Outland-level equivalents, and set aside a few stacks of upgraded food and drink from vendors with whom you probably have a reputation discount. This will save you some time and gold before you board a zeppelin or boat for the north.

If you're still leveling cooking, now's a great time to get to 375. You can also lay in a stash of buff food that will not only help get you the achievement The Outland Gourmet, but will help you complete The Rokk's daily cooking quests a little bit faster (and the Rokk has an achievement of his own). And it certainly won't hurt to have some buff food around for your first few dungeons.

Insider Trader: Crafting achievements pre-Wrath

Times are changing. Where previously you could merely craft epic swords and new-fangled flying machines, you can now craft success.

Achievement points, the latest addictive means of displaying your awesomeness, are all the rage, and can be crafted up in a jiffy. Well, maybe two jiffies.

As a level 70, there is one achievement you almost certainly have, and that is "Professional Master." This is awarded once you train the highest rank of any given profession, and serves as a little pat on the back for a job well done.

Well Fed Buff: Delicious Chocolate Cake

Well Fed Buff serves up tasty dishes to boost your HP, stats and appetite – with that special WoW twist, of course.

Are you happy? Are you so happy that you're Very Happy? You would be, if you had some Delicious Chocolate Cake. This cake is so fabulous that it's even listed by The Chocolate Cake Church. And now, this delectable delight is your ticket to some very tasty achievements, in game with the Echoes of Doom (patch 3.0.2). Make this cake out of game, while you make this cake in game – you can have your cake and eat it, too.

When Delicious Chocolate Cake was introduced a year ago, nobody could figure out what the one-hour Very Happy buff was all about. For a while, it rumored to increase xp gain. Players eventually determined the effect was simply a vanity buff, including a few happy-fun fireworks, a smoke rocket and the infamous one-hour Very Happy buff.

But the cake is not a lie. User Snuggly over on wowhead.com points out that Delicious Chocolate Cake, which can now be purchased from Misensi in Dalaran for three Dalaran Cooking Awards, is a necessary ingredient for quite a few achievements. (More details, after the break.)
