Previous to last Tuesday night, the most people showing up for an <It came from the Blog> event was about 250 (estimated), and usually no more than 100 showed up. I have no idea how many people showed up to the Server Maintenance Party, but it was in the hundreds. Multiple hundreds. Lots and lots of people showed up to steal the Alliance fires. Soooo many. You raid leaders think it's hard to herd 25 cats? Try several hundred. I'm still a bit in shock.
Also, as you can see/hear above, I streamed the event. I like Ustream for streaming, but there is an audio delay in my ear that is a bit bothersome. This is why it sounds like I'm having a stroke at the beginning. I'm not. I just hadn't gotten into the swing of ignoring the delay yet. My brain is fine. Mostly. It also only recorded the first 20 minutes. Boo!
Some event highlights and a gallery are after the break.
This will be an all-levels event. So go ahead and create a level 1 to join us, if you don't already have a Horde character on Zangarmarsh. If you do, please bring your highest level character to make this go more smoothly. Here are the particulars:
When: Tuesday, June 29 at 10:15 p.m. EDT (7:15 p.m. PDT, 8:15 p.m. realm time)
Where: Meet at Splintertree Post in Ashenvale on Zangarmarsh (US-PvE-H)
Who: Your highest Horde character, even if that means level 1
How: Ask Robinator or any <It came from the Blog> guildie to join the guild; ranks of Lurker or higher can invite.
We will be gathering at Splintertree Post at 10:15 p.m., but will be leaving right at 10:30 p.m. Summons are for sissies, so log on early to make sure you're there on time. There will be deaths -- many, many deaths. In the interest of time and everyone's fun, just grab your bod and catch up.
More details and some suggestions are after the break.
My last episode of the WoW Insider Show is on the air tomorrow afternoon -- it'll be sad (I really love doing this show for you all), but hopefully it won't be too maudlin. Fortunately both Matthew Rossi and Chase Christian have agreed to join us, and of course Turpster will be on with us as well -- whenever the T is around, you know it'll be a good time. We'll be talking about the most popular stories in Warcraft for the past week, including the arrival of Winter Veil, patch 3.3.0a and all of the other hotfixes this week, and just because I think it's interesting, we'll talk about the Battered Hilt as well.
And as usual, we'll answer your emails and chat live with all of the folks in the chatroom. You can email us any time of night or day at theshow@wow.com, and you'll be able to listen in to the show on the feed over on Ustream itself, or right after the break below. Please do join us, should be fun.
The show kicks off at 3:30pm Eastern/ 8:30pm GMT on our Ustream page, or we've also embedded a feed in the second half of this post, so you can just go there. If you're planning to be out and about, you can also listen to the show on your iPhone or iPod touch (assuming you've got the Internet connection required to do so). And of course even if you can't make it to the live recording, we'll have the show on the feed next Monday as we usually do -- you'll miss the aftershow, but such, as they say, is life. Hopefully we'll see you today.
We ran our livestream of the Halls of Reflection on the PTR yesterday, and other than one little hitch (I figured I'd save us all the trouble of raiding the Lich King and just jump in and take him down myself, with disastrous consequences), it went pretty well. Turns out you need to run through the main quest to unlock the last two Frozen Halls instances, so we ended up doing all three: Forge of Souls and Pit of Saron on normal, and then the Halls of Reflection on both normal and Heroic. On the way, you can see all of the bosses, dropped loot, the various lore and questlines that weave throughout the new 5-man, and the final epic confrontation.
Obviously, considering this is straight video of these instances (with commentary and audio from the game), these things are full of spoilers -- if you don't want to know what happens when you enter Icecrown Citadel, steer clear. That said, the video we recorded is after the break. You don't have to watch the whole thing (in fact, at over two hours, you'd be crazy to), as I've tagged the Forge of Souls run, the Pit of Saron run, and the final heroic Halls of Reflection run on their own. Clicking those links or the markers on the video below should take you to the specific parts of the video. Enjoy.
Patch 3.3 is the last major patch of Wrath of the Lich King. With the new Icecrown Citadel 5-man dungeons and 10/25-man raid arriving soon, patch 3.3 will deal the final blow to Arthas. WoW.com's Guide to Patch 3.3 will keep you updated with all the latest patch news.
Halls of Reflection, the 5-man in which we're going to face down Arthas (finally -- we've been waiting for this moment since the end of Warcraft III) is now live on the PTR, and the staff of WoW.com is going to head on in there to see what there is to see. And you get to watch -- we'll be streaming our run of the brand new 5-man this Friday afternoon, starting at noon Pacific / 3pm Eastern. We'll be live on our Ustream page, with full in-game video and commentary from yours truly, as five intrepid WoW.com bloggers go and see what the Wrath of the Lich King really looks like.
Of course there will be spoilers, although if you're interested in seeing what the PTR has to offer, this will be as good an opportunity as any to do it. We've embedded the Ustream feed after the break on this post, so just come back here on Friday at noon to jump in, chat with us and other viewers live, and check out the action. If you have the Ustream iPhone app installed, you should be able to see it on there as well, so if you're out and about that afternoon, you can still watch. And we'll be recording the whole thing on Ustream, so if you can't watch it live, you will be able to come back later and check it out for yourself. Should be fun -- we'll see you back here on Friday afternoon at 3pm Eastern.
Our podcast returns to the virtual airwaves this afternoon and if you were watching our Twitter feed this week, you'd know the big news: Christian Belt has decided to come and join us. Not that we're not fans of all of our bloggers, but he's been one of the most requested voices on the show for a while, and he's finally decided to make the jump and meet all of you through the magic of Ustream. Better not disappoint him!
And that's not all -- Chase Christian will be on (that's right, twice the Christian on the 'cast) with Turpster and I, and we'll be talking of course about Blizzard's jump into selling fake items for real money, "Icecrown Radiance" and what it means, and all the fun stuff we've been seeing come out of the PTR. And as usual, we'll chat live with everybody in the chatroom, as well as answer your questions via email -- I see already that we've been getting lots and lots of pictures of where people are listening in, so we'll be talking about those and you'll see them in the gallery next week as well. Should be a great time -- come and join us on Ustream or right after the break on this post when the show kicks off at 3:30pm Eastern this afternoon.
Our podcast is back on the air today at 3:30pm over on Ustream, and it's gonna be a hum dinger, as the old folks used to say. We'll welcome Matthew "Matticus" Low on with us, so we'll definitely be talking some healing, and The T will be back on with us after his absence last week. Should be a great time -- we'll be chatting about the most popular stories in the World of Warcraft, including (but not limited to) the latest PTR build, the Battle.net changeover, and how, probably soon, you'll be able to send items back and forth between factions.
Plus we'll answer your emails as usual, since that's always a good time. Be sure to tune in and join us -- the show goes live at 3:30pm Eastern today, and you can listen on our Ustream page, via the Ustream iPhone app, or on the embedded stream below. You can also tune in a little early (like 20 minutes) if you want to hear us chatting during the preshow while we set everything up, or stay a little later to join us during the aftershow, where we turn off the recording and just chat live directly with the chat-room. It'll definitely be a lot of fun, so if you're around and available, tune in! See you there.
Email was also answered, and we even heard from a fan that the Ustream app will even work over just a plain Edge network connection, so if you've got an iPhone or iPod touch, there's no reason that you can't listen live on the show every Saturday at 3:30pm Eastern. Meanwhile, enjoy the show this week, and oh yeah: there's only a little bit of time left to put in nominations for the Podcast Awards, so if you feel the inclination, please put us in for your People's Choice and Gaming podcast nominations over there. Thanks!

It's Saturday again, and that means just one thing: prices on the AH have gone way up past anything you're willing to pay for the Black Tabby Cat your girlfriend has wanted for months now. Oh wait, actually it means two things: our podcast is going live on the air again today. We'll kick things off at 3:30pm Eastern over on our Ustream page, so head over there (or right after the break on this post) to hear us live. And as we noted on the show last week, Ustream has kindly chosen to feature our show on their iPhone app, so if you have an iPod touch or an iPhone with an Internet connection, you can listen to us live from almost anywhere!
Turpster is unfortunately AFK this week (some family thing, go figure), but the popular Matthew Rossi, Chase Christian and maybe even one more mystery blogger will be joining us live to chat about the latest news in Warcraft, including our experiences on the 3.3 PTR thus far, what we're expecting for Icecrown, and also what else in the game might be improved in the future. Should be fun -- we'll see you live during the preshow this afternoon.
Here's the podcast we recorded last weekend, ready for your listening enjoyment. In it, Eddie "Brigwyn" Carrington, Dominic Hobbs, and Turpster and I chat about what's going on in the patch 3.3 PTR, as well as the new details we heard about Cataclysm last week. We answer your emails, too, including what will be possible and what won't if you don't buy the next expansion, as well as whether there's more war in Warcraft than there used to be.
Two show notes for you: first of all, as we talk about in the show, our podcast is now featured in the Ustream iPhone app, so if you have an iPhone or iPod touch and don't happen to be near a computer on Saturday afternoon when we record, you can still tune in and listen. And secondly, we've never really done this before, but we'll try it: the Podcast Award nominations have just opened up, and if you enjoy listening to our podcast every week, we'd really appreciate a nomination in both the "People's Choice" and "Gaming" categories. Of course, we'll do the show whether we win awards or not, but winning awards is always fun and helps us find new listeners. So if you have a moment and can punch us in over there, we'd appreciate it. Enjoy the show.

Our podcast returns to the air once again this afternoon -- WoW.com writers Amanda Dean and newbie Dominic Hobbs will join Turpster and I to talk about the most popular posts of the last week. First on the menu, I'm sure, will be the 3.3 PTR and what's new with Icecrown. All the new info about Cataclysm will probably make an appearance, and as promised last week, we'll talk about Ghostcrawler's recentforum decisions and what it means for Blizzard's development in general.
And of course we'll chat live with listeners, do a pre-show and an aftershow as usual, and answer your emails, which you can send to us anytime at theshow@wow.com. If you're around today, we'll start it all up around 3:30pm Eastern over on our Ustream page, or right after the break below in an embedded feed. See you then!
It all kicks off this afternoon at 3:30pm Eastern over on the Ustream page -- if you're around, you can tune in, listen live, and chat with us and all of our guests. Even if you're not around, you can always email us at theshow@wow.com, and then hit up the site here on Monday when we'll post the recording of the show over on iTunes. But as our commenters will probably tell you, the chat room is always a good time, so if you can make it, it will definitely be a lot of fun. See you there!
Here's our podcast from last weekend, when both Amanda Dean and Adam Holisky tuned in to join Turpster and I and talk about the biggest stories of the past week in Warcraft. Unfortunately, it was a bad day for Skype, so we had some rough tumbles with lag and audio problems, but we did manage to get in some good insight about Matt Low's thoughts on why you probably shouldn't play a Priest, the incoming lore reasons on why those new race/class combos are possible, Adam's challenge to Blizzard and their veiled release information, and what our faction transfer survey came up with in terms of conclusions. Despite the technical issues, I'm told it was still a pretty good show, so tune in below to hear it for yourself.
This week, we're going live at a special time (and yes, apologies to the guy who last week that we were switching around times constantly -- this is only because I'm embarking on a cross-country move later in the week, and the rest of the year we should always be found on Saturdays). We'll be live this Wednesday evening, September 16th, 2009 6:00 PM EDT right over on our Ustream page. I know that's probably a little late for you EU folks, but the last few shows have been earlier than usual, so this one's for the Americans getting home from work. And of course if you can't make that time, we'll definitely have the show on the iTunes feed later on for your listening enjoyment. See you then.

Looks like the gang's getting started at the Tangerine Patio of the Annabella Hotel, and we've got the live Ustream feed here so you can hang out virtually!
If you're in the Anaheim area, swing by to say hello to the gang, and we've got prizes and giveaways from Upper Deck, Steelseries, WoWTCGLoot.com, Swagdog, and Creative Labs in addition to guests, a (we hope functional) kitchen and a cash bar! We may be able to give prizes away to virtual attendees as well, so hang tight. More updates will follow throughout the evening.
UPDATE: Yup, audio's lousy, we're working on it. Turpster apparently has another microphone. Now if only we could find Turpster...
