When you say news around here, you frequently get a wide variety of results. After all, we're a WoW news site, and it's easy to assume were talking about in-game news. But, sometimes, recent world events are so troubling that we might be talking about those affairs. Or we might be talking about some personal news. After all, "news" is a big word. So when we asked your intrepid WoW Insider staff what they thought of the news this week, we got some surprising answers.

This has been a week of news. Changes to casting on the move, nerfs to Garrosh, and Heroes of the Storm leaks. These news-filled weeks feel few and far between these days, so it's nice to feel like our beloved Blizzard is picking up steam. What do you feel about the news of the weeks, and what are you hoping to hear next week?

Adam Koebel (@bendakwow) It's going to be a lazy weekend consisting of a lot of Olympics watching and a bit of raiding. As for this week's news, I think its nice they are taking challenge modes seriously. Remember, you've got several months to get around to them if you've been putting them off. Next week, I want to hear something new about Warlords. I enjoyed the artcraft post about garrisons and now I want more! Maybe it's too early to talk about class changes, but some zone previews or something along those lines would be cool.

The new patch is here. You might say that this weekend is the final countdown. (Da da dahhh dahhh.) So when we talked to your intrepid WoW Insider staff, we asked what they most enjoyed about patch 5.1... and what they least enjoyed about patch 5.1. It's a mixed bag, after all.

Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) I'm not sure what I'm doing this weekend -- likely writing along with working on alts to level the new guild. Best part of 5.1? Easily the lore in the Dominance Offensive/Operation Shieldwall stuff. I loved doing those quests, and they did a fantastic job of keeping the story moving along. Worst part? Well there was that time my guild went splat. We're back together and doing great now, however -- so I guess you could tack that onto the "best" answer as well.

This week the Warcraft movie secured itself a new director after losing Sam Raimi last year. The new director will be Duncan Jones, the director of Moon and Source Code, who had expressed an interest at directing the film while Sam Raimi was still attached to the project. Personally, I'm happy to see Jones taking on the project ... Not because I love Jones (he's fine) but because I was worried an adaption by Sam Raimi would be too lighthearted for my tastes. If I had it my way every film would be directed by Christopher Nolan.

So now that we have a director, let's write up our dream cast list again. For those of you who have been reading WoW Insider a long time, you'll know I already wrote mine a couple of years ago, so now it's your turn to take a stab at it.

Oh yeah, and what are you playing this weekend? Pfft, just tell us your dream cast list! It's way more fun.

Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) I'm currently trying to resist purchasing The Cave on Steam. We'll see if that holds out over the weekend or not. Other than that, a little raiding and a whole lot of writing.

Bonus question: Man I have no idea, but if they don't at least consider Michele Morrow (@michelemorrow) as Sylvanas I am going to be a little sad.

What are you playing this weekend? Are you raiding or PvPing in WoW? Playing something on the new Wii U? Maybe helping out Benjamin Franklin in Assassin's Creed III? The WoW Insider staff certainly have some plans of their own, but it looks like some of them are also going to find themselves on a Dickensian journey as they are visited by the mysterious Ghost of Azeroth Past. OooOOOOoooo!

The Ghost of Christmas Past from Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol showed Ebenezer Scrooge the significant moments from the past which shaped him into who he was in the present. So I guess the Ghost of Azeroth Past will probably show many of us scenes of our first characters being eaten alive by murlocs. I wonder if that gets redundant for him?

So let's say you are visited by the Ghost of Azeroth Past this weekend. What does he show you?

Adam Holisky (@AdamHolisky) LFR for me this weekend, and then leveling my monk.

The Ghost of Azeroth Past shows me the awesome time I had in Defenders of The Pass in classic WoW, especially with the other warrior tanks. Then he takes me to Christmas future, where I look like Matt Rossi. But PLOT TWIST. My beard isn't that long and/or manly.

It's the weekend, and the WoW Insider staff takes the time to reflect on the coming weekend. Some of us will do glorious battle on behalf of the Alliance or Horde... others of us will be wiping up baby spit. It's a mixed bag like that. We have shockingly few Black Ops 2 players in the house, though.

But our mutual love turned to the subject of comic books this week. We enjoyed several conversations in the press room about our favorite characters, our favorite stories, and even our favorite writers. So we posed to the staff... what's your favorite comic book character?

It's time for another weekend, which means it's time for us to tell you what we're planning to play. We're a wild and crazy bunch like that. But this week, we're going a little further. Reader Jenny is an aspiring writer, and was curious how the intrepid WoW Insider staff gets our work done. "What do you work on? I use Microsoft Word on a PC but I want to know how the professionals do it." How can we pass up a request like that?

Adam Holisky (@adamholisky) This week I haven't played much WoW, but this weekend I'll be diving back into dailies and LFR. Probably will hit up my Monk for a couple hours each day as well.

I do my work on a Mac Performa 200, running System 7. I don't have the QuickTime extension installed, but I do use HyperCard a bit for most of my record keeping. I've got a really nice stack that works a lot like Wowhead going. It's pretty cool.

Welcome to WRUP, where we tell you what our intrepid staff is playing each weekend. We lead it off with whatever witty commentary comes to mind... or we blather on about something. Either way, we lead off every week with about 100 words before you get to the important stuff: the staff's Twitter handles.

Once upon a time, we got a nice mixture of different games each weekend. You'd ask the staff "WRUP?" and they'd answered with consoles, PC games, and even some physical outdoor activities. Now, there's this whole Panda and baby theme running throughout the staff. Clearly, if you work at WoW Insider, you're going to end up pregnant or a panda. P is involved no matter what you do.

For added bonus, we asked what the best thing about MoP was so far. That image comprise's most of Joe's answer.

Adam Holisky (@adamholisky) Dungeon running for our first raid next Tuesday. Can't wait! Also pet battles... my god they're fun.

The best part has to be the overall experience. I've never felt like there's too much to do in WoW before, but now, there is just an absolute ton at end game to enjoy.

Allison Robert (@AllisonRobert) I'm probably going to be playing Clean the Basement more than anything else this weekend, but any WoW play time is likely to be devoted to gearing my druid for, and in, heroics. Spare time is likely to be spent on archaeology or rep grinds.

Best part of MoP? There are so many good things -- my farm, pet battles, the sheer beauty of the world -- but if I had to boil it down to something, it's the opportunity not to be a hero for a bit. Sometimes it's really nice to just slow down and help someone with their vegetable patch or love life.

On a sunny autumn day, in an exceptionally metropolitan (yet fictitious) city, on the 38th floor of an exceptionally corporate-looking (yet fictitious) building, the ever fashionable Alex Ziebart pushed open the carved, mahogany doors of his office and sauntered out into the slightly less attractive general office of the WoW.com non-senior staff. Alex smiled as several eager (yet fictitious) interns immediately stopped in their tracks and focused their eyes on him with full admiration.

The WoW.com staff, who had previously been working at various levels of productivity, now sat up attentively and looked to Alex, who had stopped his stride in the center of their desks. "My friends" he said, his voice deep like the honey-rich call of a bassoon. Mat McCurley swore he saw Anne Stickney shiver at the words of their senior editor.

"In addition to your usual W.R.U.P. assignment, I have a task for you all." Alex punctuated his words by tossing back the lengths of red gabardine that cloaked his Spartan form. "Bring me the oldest WoW screenshot you still have saved."

And so it was done.

It's another weekend at the WoW.com office, which just means more time with the Cataclysm beta for most of us. A good blogger never sleeps*, so even in our downtime, we're thinking about what you guys might want to see next. With that in mind, WRUP's bonus question this week: For those of you in the Cataclysm beta, what's your favorite revamped old world zone so far?

Adam Holisky (@adamholisky): This weekend, I'll be cleaning the apartment and throwing out lots of crap as I prepare for an eventual move. My favorite revamped zone is by far Mount Hyjal. I mean, the old one was kind of bland ...
Alex Ziebart (@alexziebart): My office really needs a good cleaning, so I'll be doing that. If there's any time left in my weekend after that, it's going to be more of the Cataclysm beta. My favorite revamped zone is Silverpine Forest by far, even though it upsets me that only the Horde gets to see the story there. The Alliance should get to see that story play out, too.

This week, I asked our intrepid WoW.com staff to tell us about their play experiences while sick. I don't know. It seemed appropriate; summer always seems like a great time to get sick. Even Sylvanas (above) is feeling a little under the weather, lately. I think it's probably the heat more than anything else. Going between insane summer weather and too-cold air conditioning is a recipe for feeling ill.

Allison Robert (@AllisonRobert): More of the beta -- and a highly expensive experiment on my copied main to test something concerning cat DPS. Ordinarily I'm one of the more tight-fisted players out there, but there's a lovely sense of financial freedom on the beta/PTR, where you can throw wads of cash at everything and not regret it in the morning. As for playing while sick, it depends on the nature of the illness. If I'm really not feeling well, I usually don't want to be near a computer at all; if it's something minor, I enjoy 5-mans and herbing.
Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey): I'll be working on various achievements this weekend, nothing too major -- and writing as always, of course. As for WoW when I'm sick ... well, it depends on how sick I am. I don't get sick often, so when I do I generally don't want to do anything at all, WoW included. If I'm a little sniffly? Probably something mindless like herb farming.
Amy Schley (@wowlawbringer): As one of the few on staff who hasn't gotten into the beta, I'll have to settle for running randoms and seeing if I can get into a PUG. Resto shaman, name is Russian for space goat, looking for raid. As for playing sick, I normally can't. If I'm so sick to make a difference, it's bad enough I can't really play at all. That said, if I want to try, I'll grab the hunter and his bear and play, confident that the bear will keep me alive enough.

This weekend, we're trying to log in to the Cataclysm beta. Trying. We're also doing some other stuff, mostly out of necessity, since we can't log in to the beta.

• Allison Robert (@AllisonRobert): As much beta-testing as my connection and the servers will allow; I'd like to get a decent sense of how the bear, cat, and resto druid specs are playing right now, even though all three are still in flux. Otherwise, going to play catch-up on correspondence and a few projects.
• Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey): Guild's officially 11/12 HM ICC25 now! This weekend will be weird. I'm not sure what's going to be going on - but I will be writing as always for sure. Beta client ... first impression? Kind of annoying. It's still telling me there's 4GB of something to download but whatever it is, it isn't downloading it. However, I can still play -- but zone loading is taking forever.
  
• Christian Belt (@ihatewarlocks): I'll be finishing up DeathSpank, with my daughter playing the role of Sparkles the Wizard, my trusty spellcasting sidekick. Hmmm. Maybe I should switch with her, let her do the spanking of death while I assume the familiar mantle of back-row clothie. Oh, and the beta launcher is ok by me. I ran the thing, waited until it got into the green (only 6 hours left!) and then hopped in. Aside from a few minor glitches (missing sound effects, music starting then stopping suddenly, the occasional weird graphical pop-in) the game was completely playable. I approve, for now.

I have to admit it: I'm just not into all of the StarCraft 2 hype. It's a bit awkward since practically everyone I know -- and a lot of the WoW.com staff -- seems to be excited about SC2 above all else. So I'm attempting to turn things around, at least for the duration of this post, with this week's WRUP. In addition to asking what everyone's playing this weekend, I've asked for everyone's thoughts on the ongoing Cataclysm beta test. Well, it might have taken their minds off SC2 for a minute, at least ...

Cataclysm hasn't arrived yet, and in the meanwhile, the WoW.com team is musing over what they need to get done before it does. And for once, there's something we (mostly) agree on: before Cataclysm comes, take a tour of the Plaguelands. Do the quests and run the dungeons, because there are some fantastic stories there that we'll never see again.
