WoW Moviewatch: World of Warcraft Commercial Parody

I tell a joke around my house. I used to be thin and svelte, enjoy social interaction, and even occasionally get a tan. Then I embraced the hot new workout program known only as Body by WoW, and all that changed.

That's a joke, of course, and not really true. Still, those of us who look back on our lives before embracing Azeroth can empathize with Wowcrendor's World of Warcraft Commercial Parody. The whole painful nostalgia of life before WoW is underscored by The Go Guy.

Yup. We play WoW and it changed our lives ... so that we could listen to The Go Guy in dungeons. I suppose there are worse ways to spend your time, but I do wish he'd shut up longer than a few minutes.

Parks and Rec's Aubrey Plaza stars in latest WoW commercial

Aubrey Plaza has made a name for herself in NBC's Parks and Recreation as the hilariously deadpan snarker April Ludgate. She channels that character in the latest Warcraft commercial recently posted by Blizzard, in which she tells the story of how her boyfriend disappointed her on her birthday with the gift of WoW.

I swear that is the truth, I actually twittered a few days ago that I'd love Amy Poehler to do a commercial spot for World of Warcraft. It looks like they got the next best thing -- one of her awesome coworkers. I just hope this commercial isn't Parks and Rec canon though, because April and Andy are the cutest couple.

Chuck Norris plays a melee hunter in latest WoW commercial

Blizzard has just posted an official copy of the newest Warcraft commercial, in which Chuck Norris plays a human melee hunter with a cat pet. The commercial shows Chuck punching and kicking his way across Azeroth in a particularly monk-like style, fighting orcs and kodos in The Barrens and Westfall, and beating up gnomes in seedy bars.

Chuck Norris jokes have been a fixture of Warcraft Barrens and trade chat lore for years, so it was probably inevitable that we'd get something like this eventually. Personally, I'm still a bigger fan of Vin Diesel jokes (and Vin Diesel the human being, for that matter), but it's hard to deny that Chuck doesn't have his place in pop culture and in the WoW community. Now, with this commercial, it's official. And I won't lie, I'd probably give my humans that hairstyle and beard if they showed up in game.

New WoW ad airing during Sunday football

The official Warcraft Twitter account has teased a new World of Warcraft advertisement that will be airing during the Bears vs. Chargers game on Sunday. While we do not know the content of the advertisement yet, we know that it will potentially involve a foot, a hunter, someone's face, and a new Warcraft master. In the past, WoW commercials have featured celebrities attesting to their in-game personas, spelling out the awesomeness of their abilities. Who will be the newest WoW spokesperson?

Not to be disrespectful to our European audiences, I've translated the post above for you below:
Europeans, you'll be able to watch a new WoW commercial that aired during an American Gridiron game on YouTube this Sunday.
We'll have a video of the commercial as soon as it is available.

Brace yourselves for what could be some of most exciting updates to the game recently with patch 4.3. Review the official patch notes, and then dig into what's ahead: new item storage options, cross-realm raiding, cosmetic armor skinning and your chance to battle the mighty Deathwing -- from astride his back!

Night Elf mohawk returns, new commercial

According to the official World of Warcraft website, the Night Elf mohawk is returning in-game.

Frost
Jackalopes and the moon landing might be myths – but the Night Elf Mohawk is real, suckas! For a limited time, Mr. T's Night Elf Mohawk returns to Azeroth to hand out his signature grenades while a new nationally televised commercial takes over the airwaves. Watch the new spot at Blizzard's YouTube Channel or click to learn more about the mohawk grenade and how you can claim your own in-game.

The video above is a new nationally televised commercial.

Players can get the Mohawk Grenades from characters positioned outside the starting zone. We're checking now to see if the grenades are active in the game yet (again). They were originally in Azeroth as part of WoW's five year anniversary celebration.

Second Mr. T mohawk commercial launches

Blizzard is milking Mr. T's mohawk for all its worth in yet another ridiculous commercial. At the risk of being a complete downer, I have to ask: Is anybody else bored with this campaign? I admit that I laughed and laughed at the original Mr. T WoW commercial (and probably contributed to this campaign's birth) but enough is enough. Are you advertising World of Warcraft or a line of Mr. T hair care products?

Anyway, you can watch the commercial above and if you weren't yet aware of it, you can pick up mohawk grenades in the various starter zones throughout Azeroth. But please, for my sanity and your safety, don't throw them at me. There might be repercussions if you know what I'm sayin'.

WoW Moviewatch: A commercial parody sequel

A few days ago, we covered a parody of the celebrity World of Warcraft commercials appearing on a television near you. What does John have, in this third and final spoof in a series, that William Shatner, Mr. T, Willy Toledo, and Jean Claude van Damme don't? A sexy blood elf paladin.

John faces many obstacles in his gaming, from being an evil Horde in the "flamboyant" Silver Moon City, to playing a female character because he can't get close to real girls. If you're looking for an Alliance parody, check out the second video from Iceflow Studios, about Brad, the Human Rogue. He definitely saved the best for last, though.

WoW Moviewatch: A commercial parody

In the style of the recent wave of celebrity-lead commercials enticing the masses to purchase World of Warcraft, a nifty little parody has sprung up. With a thumbs up from Nethaera on the forums, it's a quick and entertaining video for those who have been keeping up with its official counterparts.

If you haven't, we've got you covered:
  1. The ads that started the craze, one featuring William Shatner, and another with Mr. T.
  2. "I am a Paladin" with Spanish actor Willy Toledo.
  3. The mage that is Jean-Claude Van Damme.
While we're on the subject, what do you think of the commercials? Personally, I am enjoying seeing elements of my WoW-playing creeping into my television-viewing. It somehow seems so odd and therefore mildly thrilling to be confronted with a night elf while channel flipping. Now, all we need is an alliance parody and we'd be set!
