Patch 4.0.6 hotfixes for March 29

There's another round of hotfixes on the way, according to a post released on the official WoW blog. Today's list is short and sweet and should please the people annoyed about exploits in Tol Barad.

  • Dungeons & Raids
    • The Bastion of Twilight
      • A bug has been fixed that could cause Flame Strike during the Ascendant Council encounter (Heroic difficulty) to target an existing fire patch, instead of creating a new one.
  • Guilds
    • The guild perk "Have Group, Will Travel" no longer allows players to summon guild mates inside dungeons, raids, Battlegrounds, or Tol Barad when the battle is in progress. It will also not function while the player is on any transport.
  • Quests & Creatures
    • Uldum
      • Hostile NPCs are no longer present at the Temple of Uldum once the cutscene from picking up "Harrison Jones and the Temple of Uldum" finishes playing.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm has destroyed Azeroth as we know it; nothing is the same! In WoW Insider's Guide to Cataclysm, you can find out everything you need to know about WoW's third expansion, from leveling up a new goblin or worgen to breaking news and strategies on endgame play.

Patch 4.0.6 pre-release patch notes

Just about everybody is preparing to see patch 4.0.6 on live realms tomorrow. The patch 4.0.6 patch notes have come a very long way from what they looked like when the patch first appeared on the PTR at the beginning of January. This is not a content patch, so it isn't heralding any new raids or instances, but the patch notes are quite long -- it's the first significant balancing pass since Cataclysm went live.

This patch contains numerous class balance changes, heroic dungeon balance changes, and endless bug fixes. If you want to be well-prepared for the patch and know exactly what's coming your way, check out the current patch notes just past the break below. Enjoy!

The Light and How to Swing It: Patch 4.0.6 for retribution

Every week, WoW Insider brings you The Light and How to Swing It for holy, protection and retribution paladins. This week, Justicar Alex Ziebart heralds retribution's triumphant return. Questions? Comments? Feel free to email the author.

Patch 4.0.6 is right around the corner. Isn't it about time we discuss what this means to the retribution paladin? You've all waited for this long enough, so let's skip the pleasantries and get right down to it.

We're going to go through the paladin patch notes relevant to retribution paladins one by one. Do note that we are not covering all of the paladin patch notes, such as the mana cost changes to heals or those that impact holy and protection talents. While some of those things may technically impact retribution, we would all much rather talk about issues very specifically related to hitting things with a righteous vengeance until they die.

Let's dig in.

Patch 4.0.6 PTR patch notes updates for Jan. 28

The official patch 4.0.6 PTR patch notes were updated yet again this evening. The updates to the patch notes aren't particularly long. Combine that with a certain placeholder blog post (which will certainly be removed soon) on the official blog, and signs are good that the patch will be releasing soon. The team will be hard at work this weekend cleaning up and assembling our patch 4.0.6 resources, but until then, you'll need to be content with these patch note updates.

Updates to Tol Barad (which Mat McCurley will be discussing shortly), fishing, jewelcrafting and more are behind the break below.

Arcane Brilliance: News and notes for mages from PTR patch 4.0.6

Every week, WoW Insider brings you Arcane Brilliance for arcane, fire and frost mages. This week, a magical journey awaits ... a fantastic voyage through a mystical realm. I speak, of course, of the Public Test Realm, and the wondrous patch notes that dwell therein.

Now before we begin, I should make it clear that mages aren't getting anything even remotely earth-shattering in patch 4.0.6. It's not like Blizzard is letting us autofire while moving or anything. But a patch is still a patch. Things are going to change, and though mages have been left largely un-fiddled-around-with (at least in comparison to many other classes), we do have some incoming alterations to be aware of.

So with our expectations in an appropriately subdued state, let's peek beyond the jump for an annotated look at what be happening, yo.

Patch 4.0.6 patch notes update for Jan. 14

There are worse things in the world than crawling out of your warm, comfortable bed the one night you decide to go to sleep early so you can post an update to the patch 4.0.6 patch notes. I'm too tired to figure out what they are at the moment, but they exist.

Here are some highlights from today's updates:
  • Warlocks: Fel Armor has been redesigned. It now surrounds the caster with fel energy, increasing spell power and causing the warlock to be healed for 3% of any single-target spell damage he or she deals.
  • Items: The Honor Commodities and Justice Commodities Vendors now sell raw tradeskill materials. These are not intended to be a cost-effective source of these materials, but an option for players with lots of Justice or Honor Points who have already purchased all of the gear that interests them.
  • Rogues: Blade Flurry is now a toggle that can be turned off by pressing the button again. In addition, this ability no longer has a fixed duration, but will go on cooldown for 10 seconds after being canceled (similar to Stealth).
Full updates are behind the break below.

Patch 4.0.6 being deployed on PTR servers

Patch 4.0.6 is being deployed on the PTR servers starting today, it looks like. We have confirmed reports of it from some trusted individuals (and MMO-Champion has already got its hands on the client files), but the actual client is not able to be downloaded from the website yet. We think if you have a previous PTR client, you can update that to the latest patch and check out the changes.

As for the changes themselves, right now, indications are that they are a lot of the tooltip changes and other minor tweaks prompted by the last month of hotfixes. Remember that just because a change goes up with a hotfix, a lot of times, the in-game wording won't be able to be updated until a client patch.

And just to be super-clear: This isn't patch 4.1. There are no indications that there are any new raids or anything else with this patch.

More throughout the day as we get it in!
