The Queue: The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Shaving Mug

Image
Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mathew McCurley (@gomatgo) will be your host today.

If you know me a tiny bit or follow my Twitter, you know that I'm sort of a nerd when it comes to shaving. Not content with the Mach 3 quad-blade whatever and desperate to save cash, I decided to search for something better. Like most young men of the internet age, I found mantic59 by way of a forum post or somesuch that lauded the benefits of traditional wet shaving and fragrant lathering, and my life changed forever. If you're interested, start here, and watch them all.

Anyway, I've never considered myself a true shaving fan because the visceral reaction to my fandom was never profound. It was fun for me, sure, but the outward expression of the thing was just not there yet and it was my personal experience. However, when I saw Truefitt and Hill showing off their Jubilee Commemorative Shaving Mug for the Queen of England's Diamond Jubilee in 2012, I wanted it. I want it bad, and I'll do anything to get it. Then it hit me; I'm sure excited about a shaving mug. Could be a whole lot worse.

So, men, I implore you. If you shave, shave like a man. I can give you no better, no more sagely, and no more important advice. You'll be better for it.

Questions?

ancientn00b asked:

What happens if we enter a cross realm zone and someone is there with the same name? Will it be like in dungeons where their realm name is after their name? Also will we be able to join with them in a party to quest together?

The Queue: Bloody Mary

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.

One of my favorite songs this year, from the new Silversun Pickups album. I adore it. You might, too!

JaredLorenz asked:

How will cross-realm zones in MoP affect herbing and mining nodes? Will these nodes still spawn realm specific? Also, will the zones always be cross-realm, or only when sparsely populated?

Yes, you'll share the same nodes. The devs said they'd keep an eye on that to make sure it wasn't affecting gameplay in any drastic way. And yes, realm-sharing is based on population and also won't happen in current-expansion content.

Drama Mamas: When marital troubles are played out in guild

Drama Mamas Lisa Poisso and Robin Torres are experienced gamers and real-life mamas -- and just as we don't want our precious babies to be the ones kicking and wailing on the floor of the checkout lane next to the candy, neither do we want you to become known as That Guy on your realm.

The above video has nothing to do with this week's letter. Deal.
Hello Ladies,

I am a member of a fairly old casual raiding guild. Coming into Cataclysm, our GM/RL left for a hard core guild and leadership was transferred to other officers. There were some hard feelings and it was a very rough patch but we persevered for the most part. We were even able to recruit as our new raid lead, a returning raid team member who had quit playing WOW for personal reasons.

Unfortunately, those personal reasons involved his wife having multiple affairs, some via Wow. Worse, he told quite a few guildies about it when he left. Even more worse, she was a guild member also and as she has communicated, he "allowed" her to come back.

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky (@adamholisky) will be your host today.

I really appreciate what you did for me yesterday, Queue. After months of farming, Heroic Lightening Rod finally dropped for me. Of course, it put me deep in the EPGP hole, but hey, I'm happy. This baby is going to last me well into leveling in Mists.

And hey! Apparently you all disagreed with me about Diablo 3 having the same amount of gore as WoW. That's okay though, I'm still happy.

Captainfreddy asked:

If you could ask Blizzard any non-lore related WoW question and they'd have to give you a straight answer, what would it be?

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky (@adamholisky) will be your host today.

Queue, I need your help. I need the heroic Lightning Rod to drop for my warlock tonight. See, the problem is that it dropped once and went to a player who has subsequently not raided. Not complaining about that, he's a nice guy. But ... it's like it's not going to drop for me, ever. I'm sitting at the top of the EPGP charts by far, and when this baby drops, it's going to be mine.

So can you all send some good loot love my way and make it drop tonight when we kill Ms. Wolf Hat?

If you do, I promise to write you another Queue tomorrow. And if it doesn't drop ... you're getting that LOLcat Queue I promised a while back.

PhilDGiles asked:

Have you ever answered a Q4Q with "absolutely" or "absolutely not" and it turns out to be the opposite? XD

The Queue: Ghost city

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky (@adamholisky) will be your host today.

The next minigame that Blizzard should put into WoW needs to revolve around catching ghosts. Why? Because Ghostbusters.

Lars asked:

Will there be a World First or Server First achievement for the first Panda or Monk to level 90?
And if so, do we know what will disqualify such an attempt? I'm thinking of heirlooms and Deck of Rogues/Mages/etc...

Drama Mamas: The case of the needy guildies

Welcome to this week's episode, in which Lisa compares me to baked goods. I think I'm more like a Disney villain, but benevolent. You be the judge.
Dear Drama Mamas

I'm the new gm of a social guild. As such we find that we get a lot of players who are new to the game entirely. We try and help the out but lately we have a number of new people who seem to be taking the "we are happy to help" and running it for all it's worth.

I'm a firm believer is looking for the solution yourself and then asking if you don't find anything. Particularly with resources like wowhead, noxxix, wow insider and blogs for every other thing you could ever hope for.

The Queue: Run Boy Run

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.

Go to iTunes and buy Woodkid's new track, Run Boy Run. There is not a man alive who manages to get my adrenaline pumping via music better than he does. You will not regret your purchase. If you don't have Iron, get that one, too.

naterybird317 asked:

When do you think Mists of Pandaria will be released? What was being tested in the Cata beta at the time of the official announcement? I ask because I wonder if at the time of the announcement were beta testers testing 85 content or were they still level capped between 80-85? I feel like we're getting really close to the official announcement.

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.

Damn, dude, twins? My wizard knows how to party.

HobMeadows asked:

What would be the fastest, most efficient way for a solo guildmaster to level their guild from 1 to 2? Does anyone have experience with this and if so, what was your process?

I'm almost at 2 full bars (out of 5), and inviting a bunch of people to my guild is not a fair option because I'll be moving off of my server literally within moments of hitting level 2. I've heard battlegrounds are a fast, efficient method, but can anyone make some suggestions?

Provided you're level-capped, quests and dailies are your best bet to make it there as fast as possible. High-level BGs give good rep, but questing is more efficient. Cap out your daily quest turn-ins every day, and you should be at level 2 before you know it.

That's the sound that a resplendent chest makes when you open it in Diablo III. Seriously. Think about it.

BKellyCS asked:

I was discussing with some guildies this evening the "key points" in WoWs history (like personally feeling that Ulduar was the closest to raiding perfection with a variety of bosses, events, lore, layout, the hard mode switches etc) - what personally do you think the biggest opportunity Blizzard can take forward from Cataclysm is? What 'thing' do you think worked really well and reckon we'll see more of? What do you reckon they've learnt the most from and will endeavour to improve/never-EVER-let-that-happen-again?

The Queue: I'll take it

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.

You know, it was a tough call, but I think I'm gonna take this weapon and use it. Yep.

Kent1 asked:

This has probably been asked before so apologies. What exactly is the reasoning for the switch to class/spec specific quest rewards?

Outside of (conveniently) being able to pick items for an off-spec, I'm actually a little miffed about possibly having to take a mediocre upgrade instead of that nice weapon that vendors for an extra 20g. Just seems like they're fixing something that isn't really broken.

Really, it's about getting you more gear. Every quest that gives an item is guaranteed to give you an item that works for your spec. If you don't need it, you can always sell it, just like you would anyway.

There are other motivations too, obviously, like preventing the quest-reward misclick altogether.

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky (@adamholisky) will be your host today.

Like Alex yesterday, it's almost like I was up until 3:30 a.m. defeating internet demons.

If you're on the fence about downloading Diablo III via your Annual Pass subscription (or even about getting the game in general), I'd say that the cinematics alone make it entirely worth it. They are more than amazing and have set an entirely new bar for video games.

Also, you will occasionally randomly encounter mobs named after some WoW CMs, including Zarhym and Bashiok. Bashiok killed me last night. Zarhym, however, went down easily.

Sanderson asked:

With the release of SWTOR, TERA, and Diablo III, do you think that this pre-expansion lull is the worst yet?

Oh, crap. The Queue is due to be published in 30 minutes and I haven't even started it. Thanks a lot, Diablo! You're ruining everything!

AbabakarOctopuce asked:

I have two level 80 toons with vanilla gear (they got to 80 through free RaF levels). I use them mostly for professions, but if I were to ever level them up, where would I find the appropriate gear to send them into Cata zones?

The Queue: AFK evil

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky (@adamholisky) will be your host today.

I'm going to be raiding tonight, but during the rest of the day (after my work is done, of course), I'll finally be enjoying Diablo 3.

Pretty much AFK, evil.

And if you're looking for something not evil, go check out WoW Insider Editor-in-Chief Alex Ziebart's AMAA (Ask Me Almost Anything) on /r/wow today.

Kikiswingset asked:

My raid leader demands that if you want to raid, you must have played a healer up to lvl 60 and show him that you understand how tirage priority works, but also to foster an appreciation forthe difficulty of healing "fire squatters". If you had to pick, which role/class/spec should everyone play before they start raiding?

Welp, "fire squatter" is now my favorite term, ever.

Drama Mamas: When a guild splits in two

Drama Mamas Lisa Poisso and Robin Torres are experienced gamers and real-life mamas -- and just as we don't want our precious babies to be the ones kicking and wailing on the floor of the checkout lane next to the candy, neither do we want you to become known as That Guy on your realm.

Dig those groovy threads, man. Being caught in the middle of a feud between the raid leader and guild leader does not require you to wear baby blue bell bottoms, but it may help.
Dear Drama Mamas,

I find myself at a loss for words about recent events in the guild I belong to. Since I can not figure out if I am being unreasonable I've decided to seek outside help.

Recently a Raid Leader and our Guild Master had a fight. The Raid Leader and his Raid Team quit the guild we belong to and settled into a level 1 guild together. They were the only people raiding in our guild and the raid leader was instrumental in helping each of them gear and I understand why they followed them. They did not have an issue with the fight between the GM and RL, they just followed the person who had helped them the most and who would see them through their raids. Our guild has a lot of followers and very few leaders so I am not surprised. This was a loss for our guild, but since drama always seemed to follow that Raid Leader its probably for the best.
