WoW Insider Show Episode 133: The Lost Episode

Are you guys familiar with the term "perfect storm"? It's when a whole bunch of awful things happen at the same time, and then George Clooney shows up in a boat. Well, we recorded this particular episode of our WoW Insider Show podcast Wednesday the 10th of March, in an attempt to get you guys a podcast before Adam went on his mini-vacation. At the end of the episode, we had a catastrophic recording failure that split the show into 600 or so bite-sized pieces instead of the party sub of a show we're used to. Then Adam's laptop died. Then I got very, very sick and had to go to the hospital. Then Adam's town got flooded. Then Rossi shaved his chest hair, which was probably the worst of all.

But, finally, things fell back into place. So, after all that, we present to you this like-new episode of our beloved podcast, filled to the brim with the content described below. We hope you enjoy it.
Thanks for waiting for this episode -- we know sometimes it's hard to understand that there are real people with real lives behind the names on the site, and your patience is much appreciated whilst we took care of everything.

And because it's been such a long wait between episodes, we'll be bringing you another new episode tomorrow! Two episodes this week? Hell yes, son -- that's how we /roll.

Upcoming changes to the WoW Insider Show

WoW.com is going to be making a few changes to the WoW Insider Show, our weekly podcast, and we wanted to fill you guys in on what's happening. We want to bring you a great show at the highest quality each week, and we're committed to ensuring we give you the best in analysis and news recaps of what's going on in the World of Warcraft. After the big changes to the show's lineup earlier in the year, we've experimented with the show in a few different ways, read listener feedback, and braved floods, blizzards, and bad connections in an effort to bring you the best WoW podcast on the internet.

So, to that end, we're doing a few things differently.
  • Recorded intros and teasers for the show.
  • Technology for the show's backend
  • Provide detailed notes, along with a "here's what you're missing" clip, for each show, so you can decide at a glance whether this particular week will be up your alley.
These are all things that lots of you have requested of us, and we're happy to get them off the ground. Our hosts and general routine won't be changing -- Matt Rossi and I will still bicker like an old married couple for an hour each week, we'll still be answering plenty of reader emails, and our rotating panel of guests will continue, including some recent favorites to which you guys responded positively.

However, one thing that will be changing is the live format. Because of the increased emphasis on production, we've made the decision not to record live each Saturday on Ustream. The podcast team, or rather the significant others of the podcast team, also found the middle-of-the-weekend broadcast schedule problematic, and our couches aren't very comfortable. So, instead, every Monday morning we'll deliver a fresh podcast for you to listen to via download, streaming audio, or iTunes. We know this affects a large number of you who listen to the show each week in the chat channel, and hopefully you'll be pleased with the other changes.

If you have further feedback for the show, please feel free to email theshow@wow.com or get in touch with me personally at sacco@wow.com and we can have a discussion.

WoW Insider Show on hiatus this weekend

Sadly, my friend, the Conan to my Andy, the Don Quixote to my Sancho Panza (I never did get my governorship) Michael Sacco is feeling under the weather and so, this weekend, there will be no WoW Insider show. We considered doing the show with just me hosting, but the prospect of an entire show dedicated to my poor choice in accents (is it Scottish, Russian, or pirate? I can't tell either) and talking about tanking on a warrior in excruciating detail didn't seem like the best move.

Never fear, next week our usual mix of commentary, top stories from the week's WoW.com archives, and guest hosts will return, stronger than ever. Well, except for me. I'll pretty much be the same annoying guy I am now. I'll probably be hairier, though, as I've stopped shaving entirely. By next week I expect to be a full fledged sasquatch.

Our weekly podcast roundup is available for your podcast listening needs, and if you miss Mister Sacco's dulcet tones, you can catch up with our older episodes here.

WoW Insider Show episode 129: House of cards

This Saturday's WoW Insider Show featured regular standbys Mike Sacco and Matt Rossi as well as two special guests -- Mat McCurley, our new addon/UI columnist, and Amy Schley, our new legal columnist. Love was, apparently, In The Air, but so was an hour or so of WoW discussion ranging from what's going on with the WoW TCG to a sort-of-confirmed Cataclysm release date thanks to the Activision-Blizzard financial report, on top of answering reader emails and talking amongst ourselves. A good time was indeed had by all.
