Breakfast Topic: Do you use the WoW Mobile Armory?

Breakfast Topic Do you use WoW Remote
How close to your heart do you keep World of Warcraft -- as in, say, your chest pocket? You've probably heard passing tell of one or more of its features, but you might not have realized how many ways the Mobile Armory offers to keep you in touch. View your character profile and search for others with the character profile function. Access most auction house functions via the Remote Auction House, including web access from your computer. Log in to guild chat via your mobile device, and keep up with the in-game calendar, guildmate and friend event invitations, and guild news.

There's also a mobile login authenticator for many mobile devices. And come BlizzCon time, Blizzard releases a handy app with full schedules and event locations.

So whenever we spy you away from your keyboard, with head down and thumbs flying on your smartphone, should we expect that you might still be plugged in to your precious game world? If you're a WoW Mobile Armory fan, what part do you use most? Or if you're not a fan of this free service, why not?

World of Warcraft Remote services now free to all players

World of Warcraft Remote free to all players
Users of the World of Warcraft Remote subscription service just got some interesting news today. Apparently, WoW Remote features, including the mobile auction house and guild chat, have been made available to all players for free starting today. Remote services still require a capable smartphone, of course, so if you're still using that old Nokia brick, it may be time to upgrade.

Now that these features are being made free, I wonder if this means new premium features are in the works? What do you think -- mobile pet battles?

Update: Blizzard has released the formal announcement on the official World of Warcraft community site.

Players who had previously been paying for a WoW Remote subscription are also reporting that they received thank you emails from Blizzard, along with 7 free days of game time for their active WoW accounts, and a Lil' XT non-combat pet to keep or give to a friend.

Gold Capped: Mobile Auction House functionality updated

auction house mobile versus in-game
Every week, WoW Insider brings you Gold Capped, in which Basil "Euripides" Berntsen and Fox Van Allen aim to show you how to make money on the Auction House. Email Basil with your questions, comments, or hate mail!

The WoW Remote, or Mobile Auction House, has been upgraded. Here are the new features that have been announced:

-Automatic price undercutting: Set the default buyout price of your auctions to match or undercut the current lowest buyout price for an item
-Aggregated buyout search results: Multiple auctions posted at the same buyout price can now be viewed as a single group
-Support for the following Guild features: Level, Perks, Rewards, Achievements, News, Events, and MotD
-Realm Status
-Search now suggests terms based on previous searches and matching items
-Talent Calculator
-Various bug fixes

While some of the features are available to everyone, whether they pay the $36 a year mobility fee or not, most of this concerns auctioneers. There are a bunch of welcome and much-needed changes and bug fixes in this patch -- so many, in fact, that it's left the vanilla (unmodified) Auction House so far behind that it's actually eating the in-game Auction House's dust as it laps it.

WoW remote guild chat updated

Blizzard has posted new information regarding the latest addition to the World of Warcraft Remote service. Using their iPhone, iPod or Android device players will soon be able to access guild chat, officer chat, and send whispers to guild members without even having to step a virtual foot into the game. This comes on top of the app's ability to access the action house from your mobile device already.

Keeping tabs with your guild can be a huge asset, especially for the larger guilds out there. While the AH feature has already been a hit with players, this new addition holds a lot of great potential. Running late for a raid? Just log right into guild chat and keep everyone up to date on your status. The feature will also provide access to viewing and responding to calendar events as well.

The offical statement on the matter posted in the WoW community blog can be viewed after the break.
