Around Azeroth: Bacon, we sing your praises

"In Spectacular Death on Llane (US-A), all our ranks have a bacon theme and our mascot is Mr. Wiggles," writes guild leader Gimmlette. "A lot of us live in the northern part of the US and we have a number of Canadian members. This year's winter has seemed overly long, with lots of snow and very cold temperatures. (Guild chat often revolved around just how cold it was somewhere.) We noticed this in Dun Morogh, too, which kind of sank our collective spirits. Snow and cold, everywhere with intermittent blizzards."

Around Azeroth: Undercover of the night

Day 23 embedded with Garrosh's forces. I think the Fallen Protectors might be catching on to my ruse. Maybe they recognize me from all my Golden Lotus rep grinding, but Sun Tenderheart asked me why my last name is "The Destroyer", Rook Stonetoe keeps muttering "He not bear! He trolL!" and I think that He Softfoot can see me flicker back into color when my potion wears off. It might be time to ask the boss for a less dangerous assignment. It can't be too hard to find a Kor'kron foot soldier outfit, can it? (Thanks to submitter Karamatsu of Hordecore on Madoran [US-H] for the screenshot!)

Around Azeroth: If you're having squirrel problems, I feel bad for you, son

I got 99 problems, but the ongoing bloody critter war in Mulgore ain't one. "My young rogue has been learning the ins and outs of the pet battling system and thought she had it just about figured out," writes submitter Ronyn of Moon Knights on Llane (US-A). "Until she stopped off in Mulgore to pick up a spare bunny for some hasenpfeffer. These were not her normal fuzzy bunnies. These battle pets were armed and ready to fight back. All of a sudden, the dry spice bread in the bottom of her backpack didn't look so bad."

Warlords of Draenor: New Garrisons screenshot

It seems that Creative Director Alex Afrasiabi isn't the only one tweeting images from Draenor. On the heels of some perfectly lovely screenshots of Talador and Gorgrond, another screenshot has surfaced. Game Designer Jeremy Feasel has stepped in the fray, having joined the Twitter crew yesterday under the moniker @Muffinus. Feasel designs Pet Battles, was the mastermind behind the Timeless Isle, and is now currently working on Garrison content. After a short introduction, he didn't waste any time, posting a new screenshot of a garrison in progress.

I didn't really think it was possible to get any more excited about garrisons than I already am, but the screenshot certainly managed to make it happen. I love the fountain detail in the center and the clock tower in the back. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't mind parking any of my characters there for a while.

Around Azeroth: Halfway between the gutter and the stars

Submitter Dovender of Phoenix Lords on The Maelstrom (EU-A) was leveling his warlock when he noticed that the stars were looking particularly beautiful tonight. For a dwarf born and raised in the depths of Ironforge, the constellations are a magical thing, rarely seen and always wondrous to behold. So Dovender decided to take a break and just stargaze for a bit. He had a great time until a leopard spawned directly on top of him and mauled him within seconds. Nature has its dark side too.

Around Azeroth: Where does an eight thousand pound mammoth sit?

Answer: Anywhere it wants to. (Yeah, yeah, I know, ancient Borscht Belt joke there, but someone's got to keep the tradition alive.) "It stinks when the usual back Roads get closed for maintenance, but it seems Orgrimmar security has gotten even more serious about road closures," writes submitter Sticks of Baker Street Irregulars on Sen'jin (US-A). "After Garrosh stole the recipe for my hunter's secret blend of eleven herbs and size buffs, the passageway into the Cleft of Shadows is effectively closed until further notice."

Around Azeroth: You got fins to the left, fins to the right, and you're the only bait in town

This modern propensity for taking selfies in dangerous situations has really gotten out of hand. Submitter Nadezdha the Insane of GrandGalacticInquisitor on Llane (US-A) took a break from being messily devoured by a giant shark to snap this screenshot. Then again, since she has "the Insane" after her name, and also non-sarcastically commented that Vashj'ir is her favorite zone, her judgement may be somewhat impaired.

Around Azeroth: Cute. Clever. Mischievous. Intelligent. Dangerous.

"Many guilds request that potential members fill out an application, as it's a good way to see if a new member will fit in," writes submitter Gimmlette. "Spectacular Death of Llane (US-A) also asks some follow-up questions, such as 'What should you never do to a Mogwai?' If you remember, you should never expose it to bright light or feed it after midnight. Lastly, you should never get it wet. Kelidor demonstrates why getting a worgen wet and then applying electricity, particularly from a gnomish transport device at Steelgrill's Depot, might not be a good idea either. Back away slowly."

Around Azeroth: Guess who's back, back again?

There aren't a whole lot of people coming through the Dark Portal these days, and those that do come do so begrudgingly, with the expectation of ten levels of boredom ahead of them. Not like years ago, when adventurers came stampeding through the portal into the welcoming arms of an enormous demon army. When the Burning Legion got word that all the adventurers would be returning to Outland in Warlords of Draenor, they got pretty excited. And no one was happier than Mom of Repentance on Moon Guard (US-H), who dressed up in her best costume and threw a huge party to celebrate all the new demons she'll get to enslave.

Around Azeroth: All my friends are insects

Is it too early to speculate what the new races will be in whatever expansion Blizzard cooks up after Warlords of Draenor? Yes. Yes it is. But I'm pretty confident that mantids will not be an option. So those of you who are hardcore insectoid lovers (if there is such a thing) will have to content yourself with this screenshot by Zhornel on Argent Dawn (EU-H), who claims it shows a playable mantid. Personally, I think it's more likely that it's burrowed out of the back of this Grand Armored Wyvern and is about to devour it alive.

Editor's Note: Don't panic! Around Azeroth is slated to continue despite the recent changes, although for the time being they'll be scheduled on weekdays only. So look for a new Around Azeroth next Monday!

Around Azeroth: Why everybody hates rogues, Volume XXXVII

"As an all-rogue guild, we like to apply our extensive knowledge of stealth tactics to battlegrounds," writes submitter Arli of Vile Thorn on Defias Brotherhood (EU-H). "So, with a couple of rogues and our monk friend from Vile Thorn Outrunners, I think we did a credible job of hiding the flag from those would-be thieves of the Alliance who wanted to take it and run away with it." Ah ... I can hear the sound of keyboards smashing from all the way across the pond.

Around Azeroth: Serenity now, insanity later

Why do warlocks always get the best tier sets? First they got the Felheart Raiment, probably the coolest of all the Tier 1 sets (admittedly not a hard contest to win, but still.) Then they managed to score the Malefic Raiment from Illidan, AKA The Awesome One With Wings. And sure, the later tier sets aren't necessarily quite as good as the earlier ones, but at least warlocks got to dress up like the Black Mage from the original Final Fantasy. Now, Rukha of Bloody Oath on Caelestrasz (US-H) has made her female orc more gorgeous than any blood elf, posing atop the Peak of Serenity with her legendary cloak, the Regalia of the Horned Nightmare, and a tiny bit of Photoshop.

Around Azeroth: Can anybody find me somebody to love?

Submitter Goob of Kirin Tor (US-A) is just looking for a little romance. But all the ladies are interested in worgen 'bad boys' nowadays, while human males like Goob end up friendzoned, even though he's totally nice to chicks and pretends to listen to their stupid problems. He even scattered a bunch of roses around, because girls like things that are pretty and smell good and stuff. Plus, how can you ignore such killer alpha biceps? He spends hours a day at the gym lifting heavy objects. Hours.

Around Azeroth: Great, kid, don't get cocky

"Our Super Duper Squad of insane people -- Braelei, Vervaine, Doktorhermit, Wirrieation, Solime and me -- have started a new 'let's beat the crap out of stuff for kicks and laughs' tradition on Fridays," writes submitter Nounours of Llane (US-A). This Friday we were running Firelands, seeing as good ol' Ragnaros seemed lonely. We might -- might -- have destroyed the place and scored a bit of treasure. And then we got cocky about it." Well, we'll see what happens to all your hubris and swagger when that chest turns out to require a full set of fire resistance gear to open. See what taunting Ragnaros gets you?

Around Azeroth: Deep purple

"When I hearthed into the inn at The Violet Rise on the Isle of Thunder, it seemed like the Celestials had come by and renovated the place," writes submitter Worandpaws of Spectacular Death on Llane (US-A). "While I thought the new look was more in keeping with the name of the location, once I'd run my dailies and returned I did find one small problem -- the ethereal stairs weren't letting anyone get back into the inn."
