Patch 6.1 is getting ever nearer, and as we learn more about what the patch will bring we all have our favorite things about it. So this week when we caught up to talk about what we were playing this weekend, we also also took the time to talk about our favorite things in patch 6.1 (so far).

Welcome to the weekend, everyone! For many of us, the weekend means it's time to game and that means World of Warcraft. This weekend, we're also abuzz about just what the recently announced Veteran Edition of WoW means -- is it a useful tool to help Blizzard bring back former players, or simply a stepping stone towards a free to play future?

Only time will tell for certain what Blizzard plans to do... but in the meanwhile, there's no reason we can't speculate. And, of course, talk about our weekend gaming plans. Though there's no telling when Warlords of Draenor will get its first big content patch, we've started to hear whispers about patch 6.1 which will no doubt be heading our way "when it's done." But that's no reason that we can't start talking about it -- and what it might include -- now. So today in addition to what we're playing this weekend, we're breaking out our patch 6.1 wishlist.

Happy new years, fellow WoW players! We're heading in to the first weekend of the year the same way we head into most weekends of the year -- by playing games. But we're also thinking about what 2015 has in store with our own new years gaming resolutions. So just what is Team WoW Insider playing this weekend? Keep reading to find out.

For most of us, the holidays mean spending time with family, and perhaps traveling a lot to do so. That sometimes means there's less time for gaming... but sometimes, gaming (and the gift of gaming) is a family tradition (or a getting away from family tradition). Either way, those of us who are still at our computers this holiday season are spending at least some time in WoW.

Another week has come and gone, which means it's time to sit down and catch up on some games. As the holidays approach, just what are you playing? At Team WoW Insider, we've been exploring Highmaul... but with the holiday season almost upon us, it can get harder to get a guild raid group together, which makes LFR the perfect "quick fix" raid.

What are RPG fans to do with a new WoW expansion and a new Dragon Age game coming out at almost the same time? After hitting level 100 -- and some of the new-game shine wearing off of Warlords of Draenor -- a lot of us jumped ship for BioWare's latest... but we'll no doubt be back when DA:I similarly loses its new-ness.

Another weekend is upon us, which means it's time once again for WRUP! The journey through Warlords continues on, and as we've explored more of the game, a common complaint amongst the team has been about the game's profession changes. While Blizzard has worked to streamline professions, not all of us (or, really, any of us) are quite happy with the end result. So just what's wrong with professions? A lot.

Diving in to Warlords of Draenor has meant diving in to garrisons in a big way. Though most of us have long since hit level 100, we're still working on perfecting our garrison design and unlocking all of those level 3 buildings. (Even dog, above, seems to be trying something new with his unconventional sitting style.) But over this holiday weekend, some of us have more free time than usual to dive into our favorite hobby, while for others the holidays means spending more time outside the game world. But it's not all about World of Warcraft, as Dragon Age's recent release has definitely lured away some of the team.

So Warlords of Draenor has been out for a week, which means many of us have started to hit level 100 and gear up for the end-game grind. Or have we? Tis the season for new game releases, and console titles like Dragon Age: Inquisition have a strong draw for WoW Insider's RPG-loving crew. But there's still plenty to do in Draenor, plus the 10th anniversary content is just getting fired up. So what's a gamer to do?

The holiday season of Hallow's End is once again upon us, and this year we get a special treat: after a few years of the same old holiday, Hallow's End has gotten some updates. This year, you've got new loot to spend your Tricky Treats on, including costumes and new pets. We may still be a few weeks out from Warlords of Draenor, but new holiday collections do give us something to do.

Patch 6.0 has finally arrived, and with it comes plenty of changes and even a few surprises. Yes, even though Team WoW Insider has been eagerly awaiting the latest patch for a good long while now, there were details we missed, changes we expected that didn't appear, and just things we hadn't thought about until we logged in for the first time post-patch.
