WRUP: You won't believe these incredibel WoW headlines

garrosh smash
It's been a slow week. Month? Let's just say: the news hasn't been rolling in like we'd hope. So your intrepid WoW Insider staff took matters in our own hands and took a page from other news organizations. If there's no news worth telling, then we'd just make it up. Keep reading below. You won't believe what we uncovered. (That isn't true.)

Adam Holisky (@adamholisky) I'm working to get all the pets I need up level 25 to do the Celestial Tournament. Only about 12 more pets to go...

WRUP: Just a little haiku

guild-bank-pun
Some say that haiku is done. That as an internet art form, the haiku has been beaten to death and left on the roadside. But we few, we happy few, we band of bloggers, say that there is yet a little life one can drag free from the beaten style and left to your enjoyment.

So this weekend, we've offered you not only the games that we will be playing. We also offer a bit of our souls in the form of a few poems. Make sure you don't miss out on Rossi's epic lyrics, in particular. I think they'll please even the most hardened prose addict.

But what about you, dear reader? What will you be playing this weekend? We'd like to know. Leave a comment below so that we may know a little more about your deepest, darkest soul. We're curious, and we promise not to tell your family.

WRUP: Good news everybody!

When you say news around here, you frequently get a wide variety of results. After all, we're a WoW news site, and it's easy to assume were talking about in-game news. But, sometimes, recent world events are so troubling that we might be talking about those affairs. Or we might be talking about some personal news. After all, "news" is a big word. So when we asked your intrepid WoW Insider staff what they thought of the news this week, we got some surprising answers.

Kick back with a bottle of your favorite legal beverage, and join us in the freshest installment of WRUP: What R U Playing? Leave a comment below and let us know as well; we love hearing what our fellow players plan to do with their weekends.

WRUP: We band of bloggers

sad dwarf
Sometimes, words fail. And so as we wrap up this WRUP, and ask your intrepid WoW Insider staff what they're playing this weekend, we turn to the bard for some paraphrased inspiration:

This story shall the good player teach his newbs;
And BlizzCon or expansion shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the World (of Warcraft),
But WoW Insider shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of bloggers;
For you to-day that writes your posts with me
Shall be my brother; be your words ne'er so vile,
This day shall recommend your writing:
And new players in real life now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their epics cheap whiles any speaks
That wrote with us upon WoW Insider's page!

And with that, let's just get straight into it.

WRUP: Weekend of news

shaman in flight over crystalsong
This has been a week of news. Changes to casting on the move, nerfs to Garrosh, and Heroes of the Storm leaks. These news-filled weeks feel few and far between these days, so it's nice to feel like our beloved Blizzard is picking up steam. What do you feel about the news of the weeks, and what are you hoping to hear next week?

Adam Koebel (@bendakwow) It's going to be a lazy weekend consisting of a lot of Olympics watching and a bit of raiding. As for this week's news, I think its nice they are taking challenge modes seriously. Remember, you've got several months to get around to them if you've been putting them off. Next week, I want to hear something new about Warlords. I enjoyed the artcraft post about garrisons and now I want more! Maybe it's too early to talk about class changes, but some zone previews or something along those lines would be cool.

WRUP: Game we can't talk about

Fishing in Alterac Valley
Some weeks, there's so much going on that it's hard to easily pick an opinion question. Given that, we asked your intrepid WoW Insider staff what they thought the biggest news of the week might be. Now that I have the answer, I kind of feel the big news is that a lot of people are playing some game they can't talk about. I'm assuming it's Fight Club.

Adam Koebel (@bendakwow) Apparently I can't talk about what I'll be playing this weekend. Something about a NDA. Another slow week for news except for the 2 week warning for the end of the PVP season. I understand the PvPers are quite happy about the item level boost, but I'm more interested in the implications it has on the Warlords release date. Typically PvP seasons last about 20 weeks, give or take. If this one follows the same pattern,, it would mean an expansion release around mid-July at the earliest. The wait is killing me.

WRUP: Infographic Edition

Blizzard put together a pretty neat infographic earlier this week that pointed out all kinds of cool and interesting tidbits of information about World of Warcraft. While I did enjoy the pile of intriguing facts and figures surrounding the game, I wondered if perhaps there might be something missing from the infographic that should have been included. So I put the question to our writers this week, as well as the usual inquiry: What are you playing?

As for me, I'll be bumming around on an alt. Except for Sunday. There's this big game on Sunday that I have a vested interest in and will be watching from my snow-blanketed home, somewhere in the mountains of Colorado.

Adam Koebel (@bendakwow) I'll be working on my alt, farming Warbringers, and perhaps I'll do some challenge modes. I would have liked to see some class specific stats on the infographic (e.g. the 5 most tamed hunter pets), or some silly stats like the total number of deaths from falling. As for the Superbowl... I guess that means less competition on the Warbringers for me!

WRUP: Patch 5.4.7 and hope eternal

anzu
We're starting to see the treats and tricks of patch 5.4.7. While it's no longer time for the holiday season, the coming months are still shaping up to be a fun little WoW holiday. So while you're cozying up to some winter wonder right now, what do you think of the upcoming patch? Don't forget to leave a comment and let your intrepid WoW Insider staff what you're playing this weekend!

Adam Koebel (@bendakwow) I'll be working on leveling another hunter (can never have enough hunters). It's about 80 already so I'm not going to bother boosting it once patch 5.4.7 comes out. As for the patch, I think what I'm curious to see is how they set you up on the boosted character. Do you just get greens? Dungeon blues? Are your skills doled out gradually (like the death knight introduction) or do you just get a full spellbook right off the bat? If it's the former, I hope there is an option to skip that if you're familiar with the class already. I'm also hearing something about professions getting boosted if the character is already above 60, so I'm interested in learning how that works as it would influence my decision. Oh, and what will the price be?

WRUP: Getting a little boost

This week has seen more than a little talk about a boost to level 90. So while we polled your intrepid WoW Insider staff about they're playing this weekend, we also polled for opinions about this level 90 boost. So take a gander and see what we think, then share your own opinion in the comments. Let us know!

Joe Perez (@lodurzj) just got over the plague in time to participate in the first Steamroller Tournament for Warmachine / Hordes this weekend. I'll be taking my Trolls, led by the awesomely cool Grissel Bloodsong, Marshal of the Kriels and her band of merry murder monsters, into the heart of battle! She will face down against undead, dragons, and mages mad on their own power! She shall reign in victory! Because, well, female troll is awesome. As far as boosting. Having recently switched servers and factions, I've really been wanting to get back on project monk, but time has not been permitting of this hobby. So, my monk will be getting the boost straight off!

WRUP: We've got your computer's back

Silithus
The disheartening news this week is that even Blizzard had to warn us about a dangerous trojan. While it's easy to assume most PC gamers are fairly tech savvy folks, even the best of us can get snagged by the dangerous keylogger. So, in an earnest attempt to help out, we also asked your intrepid WoW Insider staff what they do to safeguard their computers. Read on, and don't forget to tell us what you are playing this weekend.

Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) I picked up Gone Home yesterday, so I may check that out over the weekend and see what it's all about. Other than that, no real plans beyond trying to get over this stupid cold I picked up from family. Bonus answer: I've been getting inundated with a lot of "your account has been suspended" emails over the past week or so - don't click on anything via email. Ever. And look at the return address of who is emailing you - every single email I've gotten has been from a perfectly random gmail address.

WRUP: Speculation about the release date

square in draenor
Clearly, it would be impolite and improper to speculate when the beta of Warlords of Draenor would open in a general sense. And in this holiday season, who wants to be impolite and improper? That would be wrong.

But when we asked our intrepid WoW Insider staff to tell us what they're playing this weekend, we also asked them to speculate on what day of the week the beta will begin. I'm guessing the beta will begin on a Wednesday, because hump day is a great day to have a treat in the middle of the week.

WRUP: 'tis the season

winter veil
The season of gift giving is here. It's always an odd one for us Azerothian gamers. We'd love to give WoW related gifts, but there's only so many stuffed animals and game cards one wife or husband should receive. So while asking our intrepid staff of WoW journalists what they're playing this weekend, we also asked what WoW gift would bring a smile to their faces. Hope springs eternal, right?

Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) I picked up Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and I'll likely be playing that. I loved A Link to the Past, it was one of my favorite SNES titles when I was younger, and this one is just hitting all the right nostalgia buttons for me, plus it's got a new gameplay twist that makes the puzzles even more entertaining to figure out. I might play a bit of WoW while I'm at it, just to finish capping out my valor for the week, or possibly poke around in The Secret World, which is actually a pretty entertaining MMO, although it hasn't captured me in quite the same way that WoW did. Bonus answer: I found a really cool coffee mug on etsy that has the hearthstone symbol engraved in it, and I'm still debating whether or not I want to get it.

WRUP: A very thankful staff

Turkey
Turkey day approaches, like the looming weight gain we all know it will be. And while it's still a few days away, obviously, a little thankfulness is always good for the soul. And so, we asked our dear staff what they're playing this weekend... and what they're thankful for. We all have a little extra room for a bit of thankfulness in our lives.

Adam Holisky (@adamholisky) I'm leveling a new mage up, and I'm have an absolute blast.

I'm thankful for three things.

WRUP: Remembering BlizzCon edition

mists preview blizzcon
BlizzCon is a week behind us. Unless you're an orc who's going to go back in time -- but not really, just kind of back in time, but in a bubbly confusing way -- and make BlizzCon now. Which would be bad for the work week but awesome for weekend shenanigans.

So, unless you're that orc, it's behind us. Some memories may fade, but some we'll carry with us. Which memories of BlizzCon 2013 are your favorite? The ones you'll tuck under your arm and take with you into gaming years long into the future. Let us know!

WRUP: Cross pollination of ideas

WRUP Cross pollination of ideas
Transmogrification is landing in Diablo III, an idea that feels so natural you almost wonder why it wasn't always there. It just feels right. The ability to customize the appearance of your character is already ingrained in us WoW heads, so those Diablo fiends will almost certainly enjoy it. Some of D3's transmog is so cool that we already hope that WoW can steal it.

So this week, when we asked your intrepid WoW Insider staff what they're playing, we also asked what other features we hoped to see enjoy this kind of cross pollination. I'm pulling for pet battles, myself. What good's a monk without a fighting chipmunk?
